What aches and pains are you having?

I will be 18 weeks tomorrow and I am experiencing some soreness in my abdominal area in the lower middle region right above my pubic area. It feels achey and sore...almost like a pulled muscle or a sore muscle after working out. It started at around 12:00 today...it hasn't really let up and it's 5:30 now.

What aches and pains are you all experiencing or have you experienced? Have you experienced this?

I am sure it is just my uterus stretching but I also feel sort of worried due to the length of time of this soreness.

Re: What aches and pains are you having?

  • That sounds like round ligament pain.

Surprisingly this time I haven't been as achy. I think everything is stretched out already!
Last time I had so much stomach pain I would wake up at night if I laid wrong.
Now I get those shooting pains when I sneeze or get up too fast. And some occasional light round ligament pain.

  • I get sharp abdominal pains if I move too quickly or do a big full body stretch (I've stopped doing it). I do have some discomfort from time-to-time when bending over, in my abdomen. Otherwise feeling pretty good.
  • I have a doggy gate and I realized I get achy every time I have to pick my legs up over it. Also, I'll wake up with cramps when I have to pee if I hold it in longer than it wants. Becomes very uncomfortable.

I've had all different kinds of cramps since week 6 it has gotten better as the pregnancy has moved on but now when I get cramps or pains at 16 weeks I get super nervous. I just had short but sharp pains on and off for probably 15 minutes. I hate not knowing what's going on all the time!
  • I agree with PP it sounds like normal round ligament pain. I'm dealing with so hip and back pain at this point. I don't remember feeling like this until way later with my first so I think the double whammy of STM and twins isn't helping me.
  • Sounds like ligament pain. I'm 18 weeks and a few days and I have the same pains. I even felt a sharp pain in the middle of my abdomen yesterday and felt a little worried...but I'm pretty sure it's normal ligament pains. I also get a pain in my hip. Right below my stomach and it feels like I slept on it wrong. But when I walk too long I feel the pain more and more. Like a sore feeling. I also get that feeling of my ligaments stretching on the sides of my abdomen. I wouldn't worry though, most likely the pains you are feeling are normal and everything's just growing and moving around inside of you.
  • Round ligament pains definitely. Mostly in lower abdominals thus far. Newest ones are hip pain and tailbone pain when sitting or sleeping too long. Also sciatic nerve pain like a mother. Ill be 16 weeks on Sunday.

This, plus my feet get reeeeally sore by the end of the day (but I stand for pretty much eight hours straight at work).
  • Agree with pp, sounds like round ligament pain. It is very normal but painful unfortunately! This is my 4th pregnancy (2 losses and 1 full term) and this is the worse ligament pains I've had, I'm almost 16 weeks. I also get some pain in my c-section scar (emergancy c-section with my daughter 18 months ago).
Hopefully it starts to get better for all of us!
  • My legs literally feel like they are going to fall off.. I've always had back pain so that's nothing new for me... It has gotten a little worst but not much But I have been having round ligament pain and I also called my doctor about my legs And she said besides Carpal tunnel the baby might be pinching a nerve when it moves since the pain in my legs come and go but she will have to go and look to see.. But today my legs were hurting so bad my husband had to help me sit down and then he had to help me get my legs into bed they hurt so bad... I thought I had pulled my hamstring again... I'm very athletic and have pulled muscles before and that's what it felt like but I'll wait till tomorrow to see
  • I am definitely getting some round ligament pain if I'm not careful with how quickly I get up. My right hip gets sore if I sleep too long on that side (even with the snoogle!). My back and hips get sore in general if I am on my feet too long during the day. I can't wait for this to get worse...
  • Sharp dull stabbing pain when I move too quickly out of bed, or trying to sit up in bed or couch. Haha I've been rolling out of bed literally to avoid doing a sit up....
  • I had some RLP early on this pregnancy, but I'm happy to say that the second time around seems to be far less achy for me. My boobs still hurt off and on and my back hurts when I wake up, but other than that, nothing is really bothering me. Ask me again in Sept/Oct how great I feel. =))
  • I have a scary tingling in my feet and calves that I have no clue what it's from. I see my dr in the morning but I'm terrified of what it may be
  • lower back pain.  But that's nothing unusual.  :)

  • Normal, I feel the baby pulling and getting bigger more so now on my second pregnancy then I remember with my first... But my first was 6 years ago haha, so who knows , but it's perfectly healthy, you'll probably be bigger by tomorrow hahah
  • 17wks 4d and feeling "growing" belly pains, headaches, and boob pain! But I am happy about the boob pain. My boobs needed a bit of inflating after a few kids, nursing, and weight loss. So bring on the big boobs with growing pains!!
  • That's exactly what happens to me I'm 15 weeks :( its horrible
  • Can round ligament pain happen in the middle of your pelvic area? It isn't just on the sides that it happens? I've been having backaches (normal) and just started having sharp pain occasionally in the middle of my lower abs... That's also normal, right? I don't have any bleeding or fever or anything and couldn't find anything on Dr. Google @-)
  • I'm 15w3d and I'm dealing with abdominal pain, sore boobs and headaches! And really I just hurt from the waist down. Lol.
  • Update:

I called my doctor about my middle pain that felt like a pulled muscle which lasted for like 8 hrs and then went away after a night of sleep. She said that it could have been the way the baby was positioned and how low she was in my uterus. She could have been resting on or up against a nerve that triggered that feeling of soreness. She told me not to worry but call back if it persists and doesn't go away. I told her I sat down and rested for basically that entire day and drank more water. She told me that was exactly what I needed to do. Luckily it went away by morning. She did explain that it could come back or change. She said some women have pain down their legs, in their hips, and back from how baby is positioned. Unfortunately their isn't anything they can do besides tell us to rest and drink water...we just have to wait for baby to move.
  • I'm 15w5d and just yesterday I started to experience RLP. It was pretty painful. My boobs have also been very sore since about 5w and my lower back hurts too. But, I've always had back pain, especially around my period.

I'm so glad other people are mentioning the sharp pains. I've been getting those a lot more than the achey kind of stuff, particularly when I lie a certain way. I was starting to get nervous.
  • I too have round ligament pain, especially lately (16 weeks tomorrow) and my damned head won't stop hurting! I am so tired of the headaches, which I know are normal and my doctor said they are normal, but come on! Sometimes they are really bad, but mostly they're just kind of there, which is annoying. My tailbone also hurts and my left wrist randomly hurts too, although I'm not sure if that has anything to do with pregnancy or not.

    We're having twins

Our angel baby boy is looking over his twin sister - due November 21
