So I did a search but didn't find much beyond lightning crotch and that's not what's going on...
Anyone else experiencing a real bad crotch ache? Think back ache pain, just in the crotch. It began around 24 weeks occasionally when I'd walk longer distances. It is becoming more frequent now.. Basically any time I walk at all. I've noticed the same pain but intensified with certain activities such as pushing something on the ground forward with my foot, putting pants on or going up stairs. Most recently it is when I turn over in bed. It doesn't really bother me just sitting or standing.
I'm inclined to think it is muscular... But it really is just a very bad ache. Its not "pressure" though. I've tried looking it up online and I find people saying the felt pressure like the baby was going to fall out and that's not it.
If you've had this what was it and did you do to help it!?
Thanks ladies!
Re: crotch ache :(
I want to clarify that the pain is inbetween my legs.. Not towards the front or back. Would a belt or pelvic cradle still help? I'll look into the pelvic tilts too but I asked my OB any strengthening/physical therapy and he thought I'd just aggravate it more since I'm already in pain... I don't know
Warning tho: the v2 and the prenatal cradle plus both look horridly terrible lol! You can view them at www.perinatalcares.com I ordered mine from EBay, much cheaper.
1. Pain between the legs, near the groin area: tendonitis. For this I've been doing physical therapy 2 x per week going on 3 months now. In general, it seems to have helped minimize the tendonitis, but not the other two areas.
2. severe pain along the bone near the bottom of my butt, both when being active and to the touch : a pelvic stress fracture. Physical therapy unfortunately hasn't helped this at all. I've been on a "modified bed rest" regime for months, doesn't feel like it's helping but the goal is to prevent the hairline fracture from becoming a full fracture, and at least that seems not to have happened. I can walk/stand for up to three hours per day per the restrictions. The rest of the time I'm supposed to sit with legs elevated (I actually do find when I sit in a chair normally, I am in great pain when I shift weight or stand again, so that rec seems to make sense).
3. Front pain in the bikini area: pubic symphysis, which many people have already described above so I won't. For this I did the same PT and also acupuncture. As far as I can tell, nothing helps and it can be excruciating. A sacroilial joint band (I got mine from a medical supply shop since insurance covered it that way, but they sell them on Amazon) helps if you have long periods of standing - like at a cocktail party or museum - and definitely when walking around; it fits easily under clothing. Agreed that rolling over in bed or getting up is the pits, but my physical therapist recommended squeezing my knees together (as if with an imaginary pillow between them) as I roll/sit up, and that greatly diminishes the lightning bolts of pain.
I found nothing on google too, hence why I'm oversharing all this. Hopefully some combination of the above tips can help you find some relief. Assuming it continues, you should definitely try to track down a specialist since pubic symphysis and pelvic stress fractures can result in needing to deliver via c-section ... Though my OB and physiologist are waiting to make that call until closer to the time, around 35 weeks.
Final tip: I hate to sound like an infomercial but the Snoogle changed my life. For months I couldn't sleep through the night even with a body pillow, because the searing pain would wake me up if I rolled over. A friend gave me her hand-me-down Snoogle, and I find it so comfortable I never have to change position or roll over, so I actually sleep through the night (minus all the bathroom trips).
