Overdue, need encouragement

I'm 40+3 today with no signs of labor starting besides the random BH contractions that I've been having for weeks. I was checked at 40 weeks and was 1.5cm, 50% effaced and baby was at -3 maybe -2 station. Was anyone in a similar situation and went into labor naturally without being induced? We're planning a home birth and I'm getting really concerned that I'll end up having to do a hospital induction or getting a c-section.

Re: Overdue, need encouragement

  • I had no signs of labour. I don't know about dilation because I opted to not get checked. But I went into labour naturally (the morning after a long bumpy car ride) at 40+6.

  • Oh my goodness I am in the exact same situation! 41+3, planning a homebirth, and really hoping baby will decide to be born before 41+1 because I've been really hoping not to have a high intervention hospital birth.
  • I had my daughter at 41 weeks in 3 hours after no signs of labour other than BH. I did do Accupuncture the two days before.
  • Hi ladies! Still here with you at 40+5. Think I lost my mucus plug this morning, continuing to wait for my now June baby to make his arrival. Tough being patient, isn't it?
  • I'm 41 +1.. Contractions but nothing consistent. It's getting tough. I want to go all natural. I did with my first. :(
  • I'm 40 + 5. I'm a STM, my first came naturally at 41 + 4 so I'm not all that concerned yet. Had a great, unmedicated birth with my daughter and plan to do the same sometime soon! I won't consider an induction till 42 weeks, unless there is a reason.
  • I was 40+6 and had NO signs. I worked, and went grocery shopping for dinner and out of the blue, contractions started in the dairy aisle! So, stay positive! It can come at any time! I didn't lose my plug or my water until in the hospital, and less than an hour til she arrived.
  • Forgot to finish my post :) I had no signs of labor the afternoon I went into labor with my first. I actually felt really good (better than other days that week). I had a biophysical profile and non- stress test that same afternoon. I was told I wasn't in labor yet. 8 hours later, I was admitted to the birth center, 6 cm dilated... def in labor. So, don't stress...it will happen!

Hang in there ladies, my labour started out of the blue, i got diarrhea at 10 pm and was in the hospital at 12 lol and there are a lot of perks to having a well cooked baby lol like better latching and neck control

    Good luck!
  • 41+1 yay. :(   number 4. I'm exhausted and over it. Mentally and physically. It hurts too bad to stand or walk, my pelvis feels like it's breaking. I had 2 hours of cramping and pains this morning and thought finally, but nope. They stopped. I was induced with 1 & 3 but went naturally with #2 and am really hoping this one will just come on already like she did.
  • Update: baby came at 40+6. Labor started out of nowhere in the middle of the afternoon and was only 9 hours from start to finish. I did go to the chiropractor who discovered that my pelvis was way out of alignment so she did two adjustments which may have been what my body needed to go into labor.
  • Hang in there. I was 41 wks 1 day. No signs of labor and only dilated 1 cm. I finally went into labour. I was only in labour for about 8 hours. I also got an epidural and it did not slow down my progress at all. You are at the end. Good luck.
  • ***Here goes some serious encouragement***
I'm snooping from the Dec 15 birth month club.. just wanted to see the excitement going on for all you new and very soon-to-be moms! :) I'm 11 weeks so if you think you can't wait, imagine me! LOL  Think back and remember when you were in my shoes, I bet you felt like time couldn't pass fast enough and yet it did! So just think how fast the next few days or week will go by.

    Congratulations to you all!!
  • I had my LO 10 days ago and I miss being pregnant terribly.
