Do people still do that? My mom had mine done when I was two weeks old. Looking back at the pictures, it looks really cute but I just don't know if I could do that to my little one.
I decided not to. I got mine pierced at two weeks also. But my husband and I decided if she want her ears pierced when she's older we will take her. But I don't want to put her through that.
Personally I hate when people pierce babies ears. I believe it is their decision to make when they are old enough. When my DD is old enough to want them, ask for them and properly care for them she can have them .
My thought is why put baby at risk for something unneccessary at this age? There is nothing but time when it comes to ear piercing. Allocate the pain for health reasons for now.
Thanks ladies. After talking with a friend, they actually don't allow babies to do it around here any more. They have to have a certain number of vaccines (she thought around a year). Made the decision eadybfor me!
Vaccines aren't necessary if you get them done at the pediatrician's or hospital, believe me, in Spain 98% of people have their baby's ears pierced at birth. Don't take a baby to Claire's or piercing pagoda though!
They say if you do them earlier it doesn't bother the baby and it's easier to clean them; later in life they tend to get infected because school-age kids touch them all the time. All the nurses recommended we bring earrings to the hospital because the earlier you do them the less the baby notices.
That being said, we ended up not piercing just because her ears looked soo little when she was born and I couldn't bear the thought. I still think it looks adorable though and now I have to put headbands on our baby girl because here a baby with no earrings is a boy haha.
Here you can only do it at three months old. We did our other two girls at three months and I do not regret it. I have never met a little girl who by five years old didn't want their ears pierced. At that age they are more fearful and despite how badly they want them may be too scared to do it. We never had any issues with them touching them or infection, they were easy to clean when they were babies. We will likely pierce DD's also when she is three months or so.
My mom ours done at 4-6 months and she says it's the perfect time for it, babies don't feel pain as much and they're too clueless to touch it but i'm too worried about her crying i don't think i can handle it but in my country all girls get them done young and i'm worried that when she grows up she'll blame me for not doing hers when she was too young to remember the pain =\
I got my ears pierced when I was 13. My parents always gave me clip-on earrings or those stick-on gems if I wanted to wear earrings and I was perfectly happy with that, so we're doing the same with our daughter.
We decided that we will pierce our daughters ears at about 3 months. Our pediatrician doesn't so ear piercing and doesn't have any recommendations. Is there a place that anyone here recommends or had a good experience with?
