How long did you have the baby sleep in your room? Debating whether we need an apartment with an additional room for the baby.

Re: experienced moms

  • I only had DS in the room with us for six weeks before we moved him to the nursery. Since that is the only other room we have, this baby will be staying in our room longer so it doesn't wake DS up too much. I'm hoping to move them into the same room around 6-8 months.

  • My son is 2 and still sleeps with us. We're gonna get him in his own room before our next baby shows up, and with the newborn I'm gonna start putting him in his own room at 3 months.

Most of me LOVES having my little cuddle bear nearby, but my two-year-old STILL isn't sleeping through the night and I can't go another two years.

  • We had our DS in a co-sleeper for 4 months before moving him to his own room. I nursed exclusively, but we moved him because I was getting such little sleep that I could barely function.
  • Just depends on you. I never had either of my older 2 kids in our room with me.

We had DS in our room for about 8 months. Moving him to his own room really seemed to help us all to get a better night's sleep. I'm hoping to move this baby into their own room as soon as they are down to only one night feed.

    Edit: typo
  • I had DD in the room with us until about 4 months, that's when she started sleeping through the night. Then we moved her into the room next to us.

  • We moved from a 1-bedroom apartment to a 2-bedroom during my pregnancy. I planned to have DS room in with us the first six months, but no longer than that. We actually ended up moving him to his own room a month early because we were waking each other up.

  • 3-4 mo and I was so ready to have both kids out. Infants are so noisy.
  • 3 months when he only got up once at night and his noise was waking DH.
  • With my two previous I waited until they had a set sleeping schedule. One was around 4 months and one around 6. And nights when I was super tired or they were going through a growth spurt I would co sleep as breastfeeding Is so easy to do while still half asleep . I like the idea about a partition if you want to save money as it's not a necessity if you feel comfortable with it. Sometimes you just have to see how things go!
  • We had DS in our room 6 months before we moved him to his own room. I don't know when we are moving so this baby may stay longer than 6 months. I don't want them waking each other up!

  • We luved in a one bedroom when both of our boys were born. Luckily it was a big bedroom and we could fit cribs in there. Our first son was in our room for 2yrs and our second for 7 months. Neither one ever coslept they slept in their cribs from day 1. It wasnt so bad. Now we have a 3 bedroom and everyone has their own room. Atleast till the new baby comes then we will put the older boys together. Not sure how long baby #3 will sleep in our room. Im hoping no more thwn 3 months
  • 2 months for me.
  • 6 months is when we wanted to move my son. However, he's three and we're still cosleeping, hah. At least it's a king sized bed.

  • Neither of our kids slept with us for very long at all, maybe a week.  I would hear them rustle in their sleep, check on them and that would make them wake up.  We all slept much better when they were in their own rooms and I could just listen over the monitor for fussing.
