The only nail related service that you must avoid while pregnant is a foot massage above your ankle, which you get during a pedicure. Never allow anyone to massage your feet above the ankle because the massage can induce labor.
@Babyfoley4, yes I do recommend wearing a mask while receiving gels or acrylic while pregnant. Both are toxic and definitely not good to breathe in. I prefer my pregnant clients to wear masks.

Girl if this were true the nail salons would be overrun with 40-week pregnant ladies dying to evict their babies.
This can induce labor the same way spicy foods and long walks can. Come on.

@Jessie42613... You have the right to believe what you want but with all due respect I'm the licensed nail technician with the education and training. I'm self employed and very good at what I do. Enjoy your day.
Read my post!!! I said ABOVE the ankle! WRONG! You pay the $10,000 for education, etc..... and then tell me what I know and dont. You're probably going to some discount shop that's full of illegal implements, etc... and paying $25 for a set of acrylic! I don't own a chop shop. My salon is upscale and all of my employees are licensed.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but you are a nail tech. You have an education in that area. Awesome. I love my nail tech. She makes my life nicer.
But unless you majored in nail tech with a minor in obstetrics, please stop spreading that old wives tale. No woman is going to go into labor by having her legs massaged. If you were taught that in school, I'm sorry but you were taught bunk science.

Dang, that escalated quickly. No offense, but I don't think whoever taught you that is trained in all things related to childbirth, so somehow I don't see credibility there. If there were any proven effective methods for naturally inducing labor, they would be taught in medical school and OBs and midwives would be aware. Not the school where you got your education as an esthetician (pardon me if that's not your title, I don't know these things). It's like a chef saying he can't serve spicy food to pregnant women because it might induce labor.
@peach&dan , I am a massage therapist for 2 and a half years and I do prenatal massage. Around the ankles and feet can most definitely get massaged during pregnancy. It can't be worked deep but it most def can get worked . A nail tech definitely doesn't get to say if a women can get her feet worked during pregnancy. Sorry not sorry. Don't give women advice when you aren't certified to do so in that aspect.
