Fibroids during pregnancy

I have been having excruciating abdominal pain for the past 2 days so i scheduled an appt. i have a large mass that protrudes and it is sore and tender. My doctor suspects its fibroids and advised me to take tylenol and drink water. The cramps are constant and painful i dont want to keep popping tylenol. Any advice on pain relieving techniques? Warm baths? Tea? Anyone experience this?

Re: Fibroids during pregnancy

  • I do Epsom salt baths and make sure the water is warm and I just relax for a little bit.. I take my husbands laptop and watch a movie and just relax and watch a movie while I lay in the tub... Don't worry the laptop sits on the vanity for those who were thinking I just stuck it in the tub with me lol but just have a little you time in a nice warm tub and just put some Epsom salt in it and let it dissolve and relax..

  • I'm a hot bath taker, which is tough to drop the temp to keep baby safe. But relaxing in water (pool or tub) has helped me with pain. Laying on the opposite side of the fibroid can be helpful also.
  • I second epsom salt baths. Also Tylenol is perfectly safe so as long as you aren't taking more than the recommended amount take it for some relief, no need to suffer. I think I remember something about squeezing the web in between your thumg and index finger as a trigger point for pain relief but I can't remember. Has anyone else heard of that?

I've heard about it for headache relief, but not general pain relief.  There should be a chart online of pressure points and corresponding areas they affect.  I'm not sure where the one for the abdomen is or if one even exists..

  • I don't have any advice other than what everyone else had mentioned but just wanted to let you know I feel for you!
I had fibroids when I was younger. I know how horrible the pain can be.

Stupid me just assumed that everyone had cramps that bad and put off seeing the doctor about it until my uterus/fibroid was the size as if I was five months pregnant. Thankfully they were able to remove it and I had a beautiful baby girl and have our second on the way.

Just goes to show you not to mess around and get to the doctor ASAP if something feels wrong.

Good luck! I hope you find relief!!
  • Thanks everyone! I tried the epsom salt. It helped
