Former c-section moms

I just scheduled my first appointment for the new baby and was told that my practice only does a c-section if the first baby was a c-section (mine was breech) and don't offer VBACs. I think I am Ok with this but thought I would actually get the choice. I love my OB so I hate to change. Anyone else with a VBAC experience?

I don't have experience with VBACs yet, but am hoping for a VBAC this time. I have one child already who was an unplanned cesarean. I know my hospital allows VBACs, but I don't know if I'm a good candidate (will cover that with my OB at my initial appointment on 6/18) or what their success rates are for my OB and hospital.

I am hoping for a vbac as well, but I am going to a new doctor this time and I'm actually not sure if she even does vbacs! I'm hoping though. I was told with my twin pregnancy that I was a good candidate though because I didn't have any complications in the pregnancy or the delivery. I had a scheduled csection because of the positions of the babies.

Bummer they don't allow VBACs. I am hoping for a VBAC this time around. My OB is open to a VBAC as long as this baby isn't measuring big like my son was. With my son I ended up pushing for 3 hours and his shoulders were too broad to make it through. I am in agreement with my OB though if this baby is just as big there is no way he or she will fit if my son didn't!

I worry about the size thing too. my son was born 4 weeks early and was 6 lbs, so I'm sure he would have been pretty big if I didn't have complications and he was allowed to go full term. Even though he was only 6 lbs, he got stuck in the birth canal and my body just wouldn't dilate to let him out. Came out looking like a cone head. Glad that fixed itself.

I had an unplanned c section in 2011. Doubt that anyone will let me VBAC since I'm sure I'll have gestational diabetes again this time around, so probably not worth asking about.

My c section recovery was pretty easy last time, so I'm not too upset about it!

I am still waiting for my first appointment but I too am hoping for a vbac. I had my c-section with my twins the last time around and had a really bad recovery. I'm praying I don't have to do that again with a newborn and twin toddlers!

I haven't had a VBAC but I have had 2 c-sections. Just wanted to offer support and let you know that recovery with my second section was pretty easy. I wrote a birth plan knowing I would have a section. I think that helped since it made me feel more in control.

My son was born 2 weeks early via c section bc he was 10 lbs 12 oz. so as much as I am hoping for a vbac this time I'm pretty sure I'll need another c section

I had an unplanned C after 36 hours of labor... I'm definitely scheduling my c-section this time. Recovery was easy peasy and it was a good experience. My midwife was fairly certain I could never give birth vaginally based on the shape of my pelvis (and the size of my baby's head... GINORMOUS). I was 12 days overdue and in labor for so long and his head hadn't even begun to descend. So I'm pretty confident in my decision to choose a RCS.

I have had one vaginal birth, then one c section. The first words out of my doctor's mouth after my c section were "You're a great VBAC candidate!" I didn't even have to ask lol!

I had a VBAC with my daughter. My son was a csection due to him being breech. Thankfully, my doctors were supportive of me trying a VBAC. They said I was a good candidate because my csection wasn't due to "failure to progress" (that's how they worded it). My doctor also said I had a good pelvis. Not sure what that means! Lol it was a good experience but if you aren't able to find a doctor that will let your try or if you do try and it doesn't work, it will be ok! Honestly, after 21 hours in labor the 15 mins of pushing were kind of a blur. Safe arrival is all that's important! For me, I enjoyed the labor experience since I was never in labor with my son. That was the part of the VBAC that I was important to me. Best of luck!

My second child was born cesarean and I want a VBAC but the only hospital near me doesn't do them. I would have to drive 2 1/2 hrs to get to the closest one that does. Since it's my third I'm not sure if I want to chance that. So we are going to plan for a cesarean. If given a choice I would choose a VBAC if I was a candidate. Good luck darlin.

I had a c-section with my daughter, and I know that I will have to have another one. I was told my spine is in the way and could never push a baby out. Which I'm okay with. BUT what I want, is not schedule the c-section. I want to go till i'm 40 weeks and then go in. I doubt my doctor will allow that.

Where I live VBACs are not supported by hospitals or doctors. I've had 3 c sections. This will be my last. While he was getting DS3 out we asked the doctor to make sure I was healing well enough to consider more. He actually gave his blessing for 2 more but I'm good with stopping after this baby.

I have had 2 c/s, 1 unplanned the other was scheduled. I was attempting a VBAC with my last but, he got "too big"

and my OB was leaving on vacation on my due date weekend. He gave me the choice but I was so tired and so

afraid of getting stuck with an OB I did not even know. (Most of them would not even allow me a VBAC because

my babies were 11 months apart.) I want to attempt another VBAC but this new OB in this new city does not do

VBACS. I could always go back to my old OB but he is 3 hours away, what if I have my baby on the road?! LOL

With my first, I labored but never progressed past a 5. My doctor said my pelvis is small and heart shaped. Plus, I had an almost 9 pound baby. I'm pretty sure I'm not a good candidate for a VBAC and I'm alright with that. I know what to expect in terms of recovery. I wish I could experience a vaginal birth, but I'll be happy with healthy baby and momma.

I will be a repeat C-Section as well. I had 30 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing to find out I just wasn't built to have babies natural. My Pelvis is extremely small. So I am actually looking forward to the birth day this time around lol.

My first was an unplanned c-section so I opted to have a c-section with my second. My doctor was gone the day I went into labor and the person on call wanted to know why I wouldn't try a VBAC. However, once he got in there he noticed my uterus had significant thinning and could have caused serious complications had I tried a VBAC. Oddly enough my attending is my OB for this pregnancy and said we'll definitely be doing a third cesarean. Everyone's body is different. Go with your gut feeling.

I also labored and never progressed past 5. I swear it's because I was induced early and baby wasn't ready to come out yet, but we'll see what the doc says on the 18th when I ask about a Vbac at my appointment. My baby was 6lbs at birth.
