so I just switched from breast milk to similac formula and on the package it says refrigerated formula does not have to be warmed. Do you guys really not warm up the formula? If you do warm it up, what do you find the best method to be?
If I end up pre-making a bottle I will sometimes give it to my DS right from the fridge... especially on a really warm day. Otherwise I will make the bottle using bottled or tap water that's room temperature.
When I do heat up a bottle I will put the bottle in a cup of warm or hot water for a few minutes.
I have a bottle warmer I use. Also I just put bottle in a cup of warm water for approx 3-4 min sometimes. Either way, I only warm it to room temp as I want to be able to feed out in public using room temp bottle water without having to warm it.
I have the Dr Brown bottle warmer. I do like it. I believe it is one of the higher end brands - not sure how pricey because it was a hand-me-down. Takes about 2.5-3 min to warm the 1st bottle and 1.5 to warm the second (twins). I'd be interested to know how this compares to other warmers. To be honest it's not that much faster than putting bottles in warm water....
Apparently whatever temperature they get used to is fine. I am supplementing my lazy breast feeder with pumped breast milk - I give it to her cold from the fridge. She's never fussed once. Once it's heated, I have to throw it out, so I don't.
