FTM- anatomy scan question

So I scheduled my anatomy scan today for July 7th and it done radiology versus Ob/gyn and I'm just curious as to why that is or what is different about the testing? What is it like? What should I expect?

Re: FTM- anatomy scan question

  • Mine is also at the hospital radiology department. As the PP said it is a much more in depth and detailed look at our little people. Also, in my case, part of the reason it is being done through radiology is because their ultrasound machine is more sophisticated and gives a better picture of what's goin on in there. Have fun and enjoy the experience!!!

I also scheduled my scan today for july 15th. After read all the answers I can’t wait to have this ultrasound!
  • Also don't be surprised when the tech doesn't tell you anything. They scan has to be read by a doctor first. You'll get the results at your next appointment.
They will show you everything but can not comment or diagnose anything.
  • I did ultrasound for ten years. At some hospitals radiology is the the department where ultrasound is located.
  • My OB does the ultrasounds in the radiology department of the hospital. I honestly feel much better having my OB do the u/s than having a tech do it. When I lived elsewhere they had a tech do the ultrasound and she had to call in the radiologist about a dozen times! It made me feel like there was something seriously wrong. All was well, but I was mad that she caused me to needlessly worry.
