Anyone with high HCG mid-pregnancy?

I posted last week about getting my Sequential Screen scores back w/ a positive for Down Syndrome 1:57.  I've been a wreck so my regular doc had me come in last night for "emotional support" and to check out some round ligament pain I've been having.  The doc last night looked over my levels and the only thing "off" to her was my HCG.  She said my estriol, paap-a and the other one was fine, but that different labs use different numbers (which I find highly annoying considering the amount of stress this has put me through).  My HCG level is 3.35 MoM....anyone else have or had a higher than average HCG level?  I was 16 weeks when they did that test.  I've been stalking google and it seems like yes, it can be a marker for Down Syndrome, or can have an effect on the baby's growth and they'll monitor me again via ultrasound around 32 weeks.  I get my anatomy scan Thursday so hopefully that will provide some reassurance.  Anyone else experience anything like this?

  • I haven't. But I wanted to send you internet hugs. Hopefully you get some answers on Thursday and can put your mind at ease.
I would try to stay away from Google until then. It can get scary! Maybe see if you can talk to your doctor again when you're there Thursday and talk about what those numbers mean?

  • I don't have any answers for you either; so sorry for your situation. Sending Internet hugs and prayers for you and your Little bean.
I really hope Thursday you can get some answers and put your mind at ease. Please keep us posted!
  • Sorr, I can't add anything of value as I've never had my HcG levels tested. But I wanted to wish you luck and please update after your scan!
  • Thinking of you! Let us know how you're feeling after Thursday.

I had the exact same HCG level 3.35 MOM, which According to the lab, increased the chances of Down syndrome. All my other levels were in the normal range. My doctor was not worried at all. He said that HCG levels on their own are not good predictors of genetic disorders. For peace of mind, I also did the Panorama Testing, which came back totally normal and with a 1/10,000 chance of Down Syndrome and a host of other genetic issues. My blood draw in the second trimester showed similarly elevated levels of HCG. If this is the only "abnormal" marker that you have, you should be OK!!
  • @JLB24 thinking of you today!! Hope all goes well at your appointment!!

Thank you everyone! The anatomy scan went perfectly...huge relief. Still waiting for test results from the cell free DNA, but feeling much more optimistic.
