My DH travels a lot for work and will be in CA next week when I'm having my first US. I feel okay going by myself, but a close friend warns when the day approaches it's really nerve wracking.
ME! And my first u/s didn't go well - no hb at 6 weeks. But a week later at 7 weeks, all was fine. I went to both of those by myself - DH is a medical student and I didn't have a choice. I always wish he were with me but honestly, I don't know how much difference it would have made - what happened was going to happen regardless. There were others that I was glad he was at, like, when we found out the gender. It was so great that we got to learn that info at the same time. All the best at your first u/s!
I did DH is a Teacher and was unable to get the time off, so I went by myself I was fine with it mainly because I also went to all of my monitoring appts solo and most of my OB appts solo.
Yes I would do it again.

I did, but it was an unscheduled u/s because I was spotting. Everything turned out OK luckily. While we were both disappointed that DH wasn't there for the first u/s, we figured nothing else about getting to this point had been done the way we expected so why should the first u/s be any different.
In an ideal world he would be there-- it is stressful leading up to it and amazing when you see there is actually a baby there and you want to share that....but is it reason to change the appt. or have him reschedule stuff-- eh, maybe if I was 25 but I'm 36-- I'd probably just tough it out.
Good luck!

I went with my MIL for my first u/s with Reed. My DH had a really important meeting that he could not reschedule. It was so awesome to see the baby in there. The only thing that really sucked was that they couldn't give me a picture because the printer was broken, that made me cry. I thought Tommy would at least be able to see a picture that day.
But when he came to my next ultrasound it was even better. There was more to see and it became so much more real for DH at that point. I don't think it would have been as impactful if he had come to the earlier one.
My DH was there for our first u/s, but he won't be there for the birth (thanks Army!). . . one thing that I've learned through all of this IFcrapis that there are things that we can't control. I'm sorry that your DH can't be there, but it'll be just fine! Hopefully you'll be able to get a picture!
If you are feeling anxious, ask a friend or family member to go with you!

Good luck with the U/S! I did all of mine solo, except for the big u/s. You will be nervous, but hopefully, you can call your DH before and afterward for moral support (or bring a friend).
My DH is traveling so much we even had to do our child birth class online over the weekend. I know it is hard, but we are just happy to have jobs.
I went to alot of appts alone. DH works nights so he could never make it to my afternoon appts and I had to make afternoon appts brcause of my job. It sucks but I didn't have a choice.
GL. I am so glad to see you here!! Congrats!

Dh was with me for the first u/s but couldn't come to the 2nd one so I brought my mom. I was a wreck before my first and 2nd one and cried through them both even once I saw the h/b and knew everything was ok. I wouldn't have wanted to be there alone. U/s appointments are the only ones that I make sure to bring someone if DH can't make it.
I think I'm overly emotional about them because of my first pregnancy and m/c (which was discovered during the u/s). I would have hated getting that news alone.

I did! And I was bleeding too so I was really emotional. My favorite nurse offered to hold my hand which was nice. And I found out I was having twins!! It was really fun to be able to tell DH and give him the u/s picture later.
