Blood Pressure question..

First let me say I have called my doctors office and I'm waiting on a call back but it's taking awhile so figured I'd try to get some answers here in the meantime. What would cause blood pressure to randomly spike? Was feeling off today so I stayed in bed until 1. I'm lazy I know :p. Any who I finally got up, took the dog to pee, and started seeing spots and feeling like my blood pressure was off. So I immediately went back inside (wasn't even out for 5 minutes) sat down, drank some water then checked my blood pressure. It was 156/110. It freaked me out because I wasn't out in the heat long and wasn't doing anything that could have made it spike. So I laid down for half an hour and took it every 15 minutes and it went down to 124/75. But what the heck caused the spike in the first place??

Re: Blood Pressure question..

  • You should head in to L&D and get checked out.. That's what they are going to tell you when they return your call ...

  • Especially when your Diastolic (bottom number) is so high! That is when they especially worry about strokes.
  • I would go to L&D, we have been keeping an eye on my BP too, and my doctor said if it's ever 140/90 or over to go right in.
  • It could just be stress or anxiety, but definitely check in with your doctor.
  • Could be preclampsia with the high bp
  • Hey op I hope everything is ok! I've had high bp since week 26. My average is in 145-160s and my bottom number is 87-105. You defiantly need to get it checked by the doc! But they could easily just put you on some meds. I take 200mg twice a day, and go in for nst testing for lo, she hasn't been affected in anyway. I also do urine tests and other stuff too, could totally be stressed I made the mistake of checking mine after a fight with dh and it was 161/107. It came right back down 10 minutes later. If you are use to normal numbers could of been a fluke thing but certainly worth the trip and convo. Just wanted to let you know that there are people who have had way higher number before and both them and baby are fine :) for sure check with the doc but don't stress too much.
