Food nerves!

I just had the hardest time cooking chicken ... And then barely eating it because I was thinking about it too much.
What if it's undercooked or going bad or anything else that could be wrong with it?!

I feel like I'm going to have an aversion to cooking! Anyone else experience this or have any tips?

  • I feel you here. I cooked my meatloaf dry the other night. It might help to get a meat thermometer and as long as you reach the appropriate temp you will probably feel much better!

@Jmsmith102 yeah, I feel silly asking for tips because the obvious answer is to just make sure it's thoroughly cooked, but I also just feel like I'm scrutinizing evvvverything.

@bookqueen haha nice!! I'm happy for you, this is not the business. It's just hard trying to figure out how much of this is in my head :/

  • I have had some issues cooking in my other two pregnancies and it does get a ton better.  It might be hard in the first tri, but for most people it is tolerable after that.

I remember during my first pregnancy, my husband caramelized onions.  Normally, that is a DELICIOUS smell, but I hid in the bedroom because I just couldn't take it!

  • Yeah if I could eat smoked salmon three times a day with cream cheese I would, but DH is not as much of a fan- so I have eaten it with no shame or worry every morning :)

  • I'm like this even not pregnant. It makes dh so mad when I am like babe is this cooked!? I'm also kind of up tight when it comes to following the "rules" of pregnancy. If something were to happen I know I'd sit around thinking if only I had cooked that steak to medium well instead of medium...

  • I am usually very lax about what I eat. Its hard to remind myself that I need to be more careful now. Last pregnancy I had an aversion to meat do there want much to worry about safety wise.
