Breastfeeding

Breast feeding and nipples smell sore or misty

Ive been noticing that when I breastfeed I smell some kind of musty or sore smell and I think it's coming from my breasts and I smelled my sons mouth and I smell it there too. He's also been kinda resisting my breasts lately, but finally latches on, so I'm wondering if the smell is getting to him and is that normal. Anyone else experience this?

    Hi. I'm new here.

To answer your question, could you have an infection? Any pain? Any white spots in baby's mouth?

  • I don't think so...what are the white spots called?
  • Well, they could just be milk spit up, but they could also be thrush, a yeast infection.

Honestly, if it happened once, I would ignore it. If it was persistent, I would ask my pediatrician.
