breast pain/swelling

Anyone knows what will help me with my breast pain and swelling. Im so uncomfortable and can't sleep. Im not breast feeding and need to know how long it takes for milk to dry up?

Re: breast pain/swelling

  • Maybe try a heating pad. I didn't breastfeed with my first and it lasted about a week of that pain then it started going away

  • I've heard you could take a decongestant to help dry up. Also try cold compresses or ice packs (I bought
Lansinoh® THERAPEARL® 3-in-1 Breast Therapy gel packs at target) And tight sport bra. I've also read that cold cabbage leaves in your bra helps too, but I've only used the cold compresses.
  • Put some cabbage leaves in your bra. You could also pump a little bit for comfort - you could hand express if you don't have a pump. It will take about a week or so before they start to soften.
  • I have been atruggling with it too, it mostly started when I started pumping and my supply increased. Nothing helps me except a warm shower.
  • Cold cabbage leaves feel so good!!

is it cold cabbage leave and ice to relive pain , or to stop the milk flow ? because I'm also brestfeeding and experience some pain when my baby first latches on
  • @ilse03 Cold cabbage and ice are to relieve pain from swelling. Your nips will hurt for a while when baby first latches on, but it will get better, just give it a few weeks. Put Lanolin on your nipples after each feeding to help with the nipple pain.
  • I took a Zyrtec one day because I had a nasty dry cough that lasted days. The next day my milk decreased significantly, it was not in my favor because I am breastfeeding and now my supply is still low.
