New carseat for DS

So DS is just 6 months and is a TANK. He is in 12 month clothes and his shoulders are so broad that he barely fits in the carrier he is currently in. I don't feel comfortable leaving him in this one. I can buckle it just fine but he is so wedged in there! What suggestions are out there? I started my research but my head is spinning from all the requirements/measurements/expiration dates on car seats these days. DD is in a convertible and since that is all we have ever known we have nothing to compare it to...we may just invest in another. What are your suggestions?

How old is your DD? Can you give her convertible to the baby and buy her some sort of convertible/booster combo seat that has a 5 point harness? That's what we will do for DD. We are looking into a Britax Frontier 90 for DS - he's a little over 3 and 40 lbs though so he's ready for a combo seat. No point in buying another convertible if my older kid will need to transition out of his soon.

@bigboobsmcgee she is 2 years old. she is only about 25 pounds so not ready for a booster...I guess I didn't know that the convertible had a booster combo! ill look into the weight

My 3 year old isn't ready for a booster either but there are combo seats that you could check out. That way your older child can stay in a seat for quite a few years.

ok NOT saying we are getting this but I stumbled upon this and I don't even understand how this is on the market! isn't the point of a safety seat to....oh I don't know...provide safety?
