Hi everyone,

My husband and I just found out we're expecting again after miscarrying our first in early March. Five positive HPTs this weekend and feeling hopeful...but terrified something will go wrong again. Only about 4-5 weeks along. Calling doctor this to schedule an appointment. Can anyone tell me what the first appointment is like and when it is typically scheduled? Thanks so much and congratulations to all the Feb 2016 moms out there... ❤️

    Every ob is different, given your mc they will probably schedule you to come in earlier than they normally would just to check things out. With my first DS (after my first miscarriage) I think I went in around 6 weeks and then maybe again at 8 (hard to remember) but I do know they did a transvaginal U.S.
    Some of what they do or don't do might depend on what your insurance covers.

    If someone doesn't have a history of mc some obs won't schedule first apt till after 1st tri (that would probably drive me crazy and I'd bug her till I got in earlier... But I'm terribly impatient with this stuff!)

    Congrats and welcome! First appointment isn't usually scheduled until 8-10 weeks. But if all goes well it's a pretty great appointment. You'll get an ultrasound and likely hear the heartbeat!

    Congrats and welcome!! First appointment is usually around 8-10 weeks. Some will do a transvaginal ultrasound, some may not.

    Hello, welcome! With my first pregnancy I had my first appointment at 8 weeks. They did an abdominal ultrasound, They said they would do a vaginal if they couldn't see enough detail but luckily they didn't have to. They had a nurse talk to me about the pregnancy process and answer my questions. They scheduled the next couple of appointments. I think it was the next appointment where we discussed my insurance and what I would have to pay for.

    Congrats and welcome. As they said, everyone is different. Mine will see me at 8 weeks and do blood work and an ultrasound and chat about pregnancy. Be ready for the dildo cam (though my college roommate said her doc said she was skinny enough to use the through the abdominal ultrasound so she kissed the dildo cam). It like has a condom and everything on it lol.

    If they do the ultrasound and catch the heartbeat, try and see how fast it is (only if you want to play with the heart rate means baby is a certain sex idea).

    My first appointment with DS was around 8 weeks, and they did a full exam and vaginal US, and then just talked at me a lot and gave me a book and a bunch of pamphlets to read. 

    Congrats, by the way! FX for a lovely sticky baby and a healthy pregnancy! :)
