I was laying on the couch and my 35lb beagle stepped over me and ended up placing one of her paws right on my uterus area. Now I'm freaking out. Should I be worried?
My 20 lb Pomeranian full on jumped off the couch from my stomach. I was worried too but you should be fine, I was. Theres still plenty of cushion for the baby
Nope! You aren't that fragile. Our bodies are made to handle quite a bit of abuse. I wouldn't make a habit of letting dogs land on your stomach, but I also wouldn't worry about it!
No. My mom talks all the time about how when she was pregnant with my second brother, my eldest brother would constantly bounce on and poke her stomach. You're fine!
This...FREAKS. ME. OUT. I have two dogs: a 60 pound pitbull/lab mix and a 16 pound Lhasa Apso. The little one is in and out of the bed all night and jumps and lands on my stomach while I'm sleeping constantly. It used to be an annoyance because kept waking me up! Now it worries me that he's going to do something to hurt me or baby, especially as I get farther along. I guess I should be happy it's not the 60 pound one jumping on my stomach, but still...a little scary!
I totally get the worry. I'm sure you're fine though! Like everyone is saying, there's a lot of cushion. Damn dogs causing us to worry though...like we need that! lol
Same! My dog jumped on my belly a couple times and I started freaking out. I was laying in bed this morning too and my dog walked on my belly... Thought I was going to have a nervous break down. So glad you posted this question... Makes me feel a lot better.
No worries ladies, as your bellies get bigger, your dogs will learn. My Boxer Shepard mix is about 80 lbs of thinks he's a lapdog. Once DS started getting big enough, my lap and belly stopped being a pillow... I guess he didn't like getting kicked in the face, poor pup. After that he just curled up close and listened. ☺
I was camping last weekend and my 60lb shepherd jumped on me. Your little peanut is protected, especially at this early stage. I heard your baby is still protected by your pubic bone and your abdominal muscles. You are fine, you can relax. (:
My 2 yr old decided that jumping on my belly this afternoon was the best thing EVER! Our babies are still tucked down low enough and very well protected that cats kneading, dogs and toddlers jumping, and the odd smack to the belly from poorly placed counter tops shouldn't effect the squidlettes at all. As long as you aren't taking repeated direct hits at a downward angle all should be well.
This happened to me with our first. I started screaming and crying! I was terrified the dog hurt the baby. (She was just fine.) Now I have a toddler kneeing and elbowing me in the belly all day long and I don't even think twice about it. Ha. Like others said, it's more protected than you think it is.
My 4 yo has done the equivalent of Macho Man Savage's diving elbow jump on my belly and things have been fine. Everything is pretty protected at this stage. Things should be fine!
Re: my dog stepped on my belly!
Like others said, wouldn't make a habit of it, but it should be ok.
