any second time c section mommies??

I am 40 weeks 4 days with my second right now. I was hoping for a vbac but this kid just doesn't want to come out. I scheduled a c section rather than be induced since at 38 weeks this baby was measuring 8 1/2 lbs and my doctor thought if I was induce the odds were pretty good that I would end up with a c section anyway. So now I am a day away from my c section and am super upset about it. My first birth was terrible and am just afraid of going through that again with a 3 year old at home. How is the second time going for people???

Re: any second time c section mommies??

  • This second one has been much easier. I've been up and moving a lot quicker and going home was a lot easier and not so drastic because I've already experienced this from my first one. I wish you luck and hope it goes as easy and good for you!

  • Same here. Knowing what to expect and remembering what muscles will hurt and how to maneuver made the second go round not as scary. Definitely forced myself to move more this time around and took advantage of the drugs and the nursery a bit more. I was also pretty anxious to get home as quickly as possible since I was missing my toddler and husband who couldn't spend the night with me.

Had a really great experience and I'm 4 weeks out and feel fantastic. Seemed to be an easier procedure and faster recovery.. Was up same day and came home from hospital a day earlier this time too!
  • Better than expected. My 1st is 5 ANSI was worried. I was more nervous this time- but the anesthesia, procedure & hospital stay was great! The hardest part was coming home & trying to sit up at night to breastfeed or pick him up. But that only lasted a few days. I'm 3 weeks out & am feeling great!
  • This time has been so much easier for me! I was really concerned about the recovery because of my first c section but this has been so much less stressful and painful!! Good luck!!
  • I had my second son two weeks ago via cesarean and I personally thought the recovery wasn't bad at all. Having it scheduled and just going in was so nice - I was there two hours early to prepare for the cesarean and the baby was out shortly after - no 12+ hours of labor! I was up and walking less than 24 hours post op. Best of luck!
