Moved Due Date

I had my first ultrasound today . My previous due date was Christmas Day, but today, tech told me baby measured at 8 weeks 2 days, instead of 10w like I had thought, making my due date Jan 5 . She said it could change again. Anyone had a pregnancy where due date was changed more than once ?

Re: Moved Due Date

  • My doctor only changes your due date if you're off my more than a week. Not sure if they change it a second time though. Hmm

With my first US I was told my EDD was two days behind what I thought it was 26th instead of 24th. The next time I had jumped ahead a few days to the 20th. They are keeping my due date the 24th.

    Edited because I can't spell.
  • Based on my LMP my due date was 12/16. When I went in for an ultrasound they estimated Christmas Day. I have a dr. appt. Tuesday so I'm guessing it'll change one more time. On the bright side, you might get a new years eve baby! :)

At 7w4d, baby measured 6w1d. At 11w4d, baby measured 11w1d, and today at 13w1d, baby measured exactly on track. They didn't change my due date before, but may change it at the anatomy scan if this little one keeps growing so fast! Good luck!
  • mine due date only changed once but it went from November 8 to December 18th so it was a whole month diff.
  • Mine changed from 9w2d to 7w3d and everyone said that was very normal. You probably ovulated later. I have a longer cycle so it accounts for that. I wonder if it will still be that far off at my second ultrasound :)
  • My cycles were always very irregular, so maybe that had something to do with it. I'm not worried about the due date much. Baby is healthy & heartbeat was 171. I'm just glad LO is ok :)

i think it's pretty normal. i consider it a due month not a due date. but that makes it hard when you want to know exactly what day you're on and what's happening inside you! i say pick a date and just stick with it :)
  • Mine changed from 12/30 to 12/4.

My doc didn't change it bc my 1st ultrasound measured the baby only 4 days behind expected based on my lmp. They told me at my appt earlier this week that they won't change it bc all babies develop at the same rate initially, and it then varies later.
  • Thanks, ladies. They changed my due date b/c I was almost 2 weeks off, but I am scheduled for another scan at 12 weeks I believe, so I guess I will see then :)
  • Mine has also changed from 12/14 to 12/21
  • My due date based on my LMP was Dec 2nd, but at my 7 week scan my doctor measured and moved it to Dec 4th. When I went in for the 12 week ultrasound the tech measured again and said my due date should be Dec 2nd, and that my doctor should not have moved it in the first place because you should only move it if it is a whole week off. Confusing and annoying but my 12th week flew by since I got two free days :)

  • My due date was originally Dec 29, and it got moved to Jan 3. That made sense to me since I was temping and knew that I ovulated on day 21 instead of day 14, which is what they usually go by to give you your DD
  • I was always told to go based off your very first dating ultrasound cause babies grow at different rates. My estimate LMP put my DD at 12/5 but my scan said 12/11 but my doctor is sticking with 12/5
  • My DD got moved around quite a few times in the first week. But I had some unusual circumstances. I couldn't go off of and LMP because I had an early mc last. My initial dating was off of my US sizing but then they found twins and changed it based off of my OPK's. After that, they said they only change it if you were off by more than two weeks.

Just a side note – The last time they changed it was when I told them I don't care what date it was so long as they get that baby out before midnight on New Year's Eve. I wanted the tax deduction! Everybody laughed and that was the last change I had!

The most important thing is that you have a healthy baby, the date of it doesn't matter at all ;-)
  • to get the tax thing ur baby has to bee born at might....I know cuz my first was born 1230 in the afternoon....on new years eve. .. but as long has every bodies baby is healthy and happy that all that matters
  • I would love my due date to be bumped lol! I keep dreaming that I go in for my 12 wk, to find out I am much further along.... Doubtful though because I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and was within one day.
  • I've had my due date changed 3 different times! I went from 12/07 to 12/14 to 12/09 which is thankfully the final change of date. But all I know is that I have a long family history of people having birthdays as the same day as other family members. Mine is 12/11 and my mom and grandfather is 12/14. But thank goodness I know I'll be induced before my husband's which is 12/25 :)

Absolutely agree about the health of the baby! I'm confused about the tax break though because what I meant was I wanted to take tax deduction for this fiscal year (filing in April 2016.) My understanding was so long as you are in before midnight you're good. Is this incorrect? If you pay estimated taxes on a quarterly basis than that might've been why you may not have qualified? I would appreciate any insight please.
  • My EDD the nurse said was 4 days later (using the wheel) than theBump calculator both based on LMP, the nurse said that there are 2 main calculations and that was probably why...they are both just numbers since neither was anything beyond a calculation based on LMP. I have tricare and only get ultrasounds this early if they can't find a heartbeat with doppler if you are low risk so there isn't a measurement yet to use any more advanced calculations. I have had patients that had due dates changed 3-4 times at all stages of pregnancy.
