I refuse to think of myself as an "old mom."

Anyone else get bummed out when referring to themselves as "old mom," or "of mature maternal age?" I'm over 35 with my first, but I still like to think of myself as a healthy young woman having a baby. Maybe I'm delusional, but I feel still young.

I don't think you're delusional.  :)  I don't really see myself that way either and I don't really care how anyone else sees me honestly.  There are SO many 'older' moms these days that I don't really feel any different then anyone else.  Most people guess that I'm around 26-27 and I just let them think it. lol I don't care.  My DD's daycare teacher did ask me when I first announced that I was pregnant.. 'how old are you anyways'.  lol  I said that's really not a smart thing to say to any woman.. let alone a pregnant woman.

I'm 39 and pregnant with my first. My friends who are nurses and midwives tell me that women our age take better care of themselves physically and they are more prepared to be parents. Don't let all the genetics stats freak you out. Our Nuchal test and fetal DNA tests all turned out great.

Ha ha, when I go out with my LO, I keep imagining that people see us and wonder if I'm the mom or the au pair. I don't know why I've got it in my head that I'm a young mom, but I really feel that way.

You are definitely not delusional!  I'm 37, and I also do not feel that old.  Thankfully, my OB has never treated me as old, either, other than offering a few additional tests early on that are generally reserved for "advanced maternal age" women.

I'm 37 and I didn't feel old until I got to be 37 weeks pregnant. In fact I physically felt great but being pregnant has been a huge drain on my energy the whole time. BUT, once I have myself back to myself I anticipate feeling better again. Other than that I only feel 'old' when talking to 22 year olds on my bmb.

I am 42 and having my 8th baby.  I feel no different than I did when I was in my 20's expecting my first.  So I also don't think of myself as "old".  At a previous dr office I went to they listed me as "geriatric pregnancy"!  And that was nearly 6 years ago!!!  Geriatric!  Now that was offensive
