Is it wrong...

is it wrong to not disclose my pregnancy at an interview? I am 16 weeks and have several interviews coming up. I can still hide my bump with the right clothes. I feel like I should let them know but at the same time I really need a job. (I know they aren't supposed to discriminate but I'm sure they will choose a non pregnant applicant with the same skill set). I just want to do the right thing by them and be able to take care of my kids...

    You do not need to disclose at any point. I would definitely not disclose in an interview.

    I would not disclose until after the interview.
    if they give you a formal offer you could then bring it up before officially accepting. That way you can get a feel to see how they take. Make sure you are comfortable, and such.

    Unless an offer would be contingent on you passing a medical and the role would exclude you if you were pregnant on health & safety grounds, I wouldn't tell them until you have your bum on the seat.

    You don't have to disclose but if it's a full time job know that you have to be there a year to qualify to use FMLA for when the baby is born. So without that you might not be allowed much time off when the baby is born. I worked with a girl this happened too. The place we were was awful and said she could take two weeks but if she took more than that they couldn't guarantee her job would be there when she came back. It was a big hoopla and she ended up Quiting after the baby was born, took some time off and now works part time at the hospital.

    I got my new job a month ago, & I disclosed it before my interview. Personally, I'm glad I did, because they were happy for me & let me know I would receive short term disability benefits, & paid time off. Depends on the employer, but I don't think I could work for a place that's not family-friendly. Maternity leave will not be the only time you need to miss work for your child.
