Electric baby bouncer: mamaroo VS. Fisherprice

Hello ladies! FT Mom here, I'm looking for a nice cradle/bouncer for my little one but I'm not sure what to purchase. I heard some great things about mamaroo but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Fisherprice has a nice swing cradle too so I'm torn between the two. I need some suggestions please. :)

  • I'm using a snugabunny! Several friends rave about it

  • A good friend had the mamaroo and her baby really liked it, and there were lots of functions as opposed to simple bouncers. I got a fisher price bouncer/vibrator for 6$ at a thrift shop and was going to just use that, then she told me she'd lend me the mamaroo since she's done with it. So I will get to try both I guess!

How awesome! You're so lucky. Mamaroo is quite pricey and I want to make sure that it's worth the money before I get it. Do you know up to how old most babies use them?

My boyfriend and I just got an amazing deal on a mamaroo at Sears, spent $140 when regularly $250. I read up on them and they support up to 25lbs. I can't wait to use mine! :)
  • The thing is, you never know if your kid will like or use anything. My first didn't use her swing, lived in the bouncer, never liked the bumbo, love the playmat
  • Well since the manufacturer of mamaro doesn't suggest putting a baby who can sit unassisted in the bouncer you wouldn't get very much use out of it for the price. I'm a ftm too but I've worked at a daycare for 6 years and I still see one year olds who sleep in fisher price swings, their just used to it I guess. It's much cheaper and you will get more bang for your buck.
  • I am not sure about the area you live in, but you may try craigslist for a used mammaroo. My Area has tons listed from $25 - $100. May be worth buying one used in case your little one is not fond of it since they are so pricy. I am planning on doing this with the BOB jogging stroller.

I have the mamaroo and my son HATED it. Spent maybe 10 whole minutes in it Bc every time we tried he screamed. My niece and two nephews, and a few friends hated it as well. It's so expensive and it's so hot and miss. If this baby doesn't like it im selling it. I ended up buying a cheap portable swing that just went forward and back and he slept for hours in it. I also had a small bouncer that vibrates that I used in the bathroom so I could shower. I strongly suggest getting a different swing, unless you find a cheap used one.

Thanks for all your honest feedbacks ladies. I live overseas and it's hard to get second hand stuffs from where I live. I was just gonna buy one on Amazon but after reading your comments I've realized that I probably need to wait till my baby is born before investing on an expensive baby bouncer. I really appreciate your suggestions.
  • We are using a Mamaroo & I have a portable swing that collapses and we will use for outings, trips, outside stuff.i have a friend giving me hers because her DD didn't like it at all. Or else I would grab one on Amazon.

  • They didn't have them the last time that I had a kid, or at least I didn't know about them. My son loved his swing. It was just simple and went back and forth. He would nap it in and sometimes it was the only way you could put him down without crying. I know that this baby could be different and not like it at all, but I registered for just a normal swing. I feel like it will last longer and it is like 1/3 of the price. I can't see spending $200+ on something like that.

  • I purchased the snugabunny swing as well and put it together yesterday so far I love it, it has a lot of functions on it and it's really adorable
  • We had the snugabunny swing and bouncer with my son. He hated the swing but loved the bouncer. My mom had the lamb version of the swing and he would nap for hrs in it. It all depends on the baby.
  • So unrelated but the first time I saw a momaroo, the way it moved weirded me out so now I can't get one. Lol

  • @shelbydd they weird me out too! I also am not a fan of the colors and patterns. I know that contrasting colors and black and white are good for baby, but it's like colors threw up on it.

5-6 months! We have the 2015 model. Such a wonderful piece. Pricey, but blows the rest outta the water IMO.

  • We were gifted a 2015 Mamaroo. I heard they improved the design over the older models. It's plain silver gray and it has a small footprint so I love that it will fit in with our decor and it doesn't scream "baby". We had a swing with out first three and it took sooooo much room. I hope the baby will like the Mamaroo, you never know!

*Lurker* I used a Mamaroo with my first 2 and they loved it.  I'll probably upgrade to the newer model with this baby since our other one has seen a lot of use!
  • I didn't even know about the Mamaroo but my BFF is loaning me a bunch of baby stuff that hers just outgrew and that is included. I sent a pic to my husband and was like "look at our spaceship swing!!".
  • We have a mammaroo!! Hope baby likes it! It was free and basically not used because my nephew HATED it. Lol!
