I understand others have mentioned back pain. But I haven't seen anyone around 8weeks having it. I have been having bad lower back pain all across the lower back for about a week now. I did have an ultrasound 2 days ago and baby looks fine. My main worry is this lower back pain an early indicator of miscarriage? I also have zero spotting.

I don't know anything about it being an early indication of miscarriage. But I am having it too, 8 wks tomorrow, so since you aren't the only one, I'm going with its no big deal.

  • I have never ever heard of it being an indicator of miscarriage. I am 9w 2d, and before I was pregnant I (thankfully) never had back pains. I have been noticing them since about 8 weeks, and now they are just excruciating. I sit up away from the wall when I watch TV in bed, so I think that is a factor as to why it has been so bad these last few days. If you hate back pains now, just wait until your tummy is the size of a watermelon. (:
  • I am having and have been having back pain. I'm only 7 weeks today, but this is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy I had back pain all through out my pregnancy. I had a friend massage my back for two hours, literally two hours. He finally stopped and it felt like he hadn't even done anything.
I ended up having really bad back labor. (Not to freak anyone out.)
But you can have back pains all trough pregnancy and labor and still have a healthy baby. My DS is now 3.

It's all part of how our bodies are changing. Our backs are going to be carrying around a lot of weight soon. Plus there could be pinched nerves with everything getting pushed around.
  • Yes! I am so uncomfortable ALL the time. Im a therapist and have to sit a lot at work and sometimes the pain is distracting. At 7 weeks I wasn't expecting this.
  • Yes I'm 8 weeks and have been having lower back pain. Hoping everything is ok! Will find out on Monday at my ultrasound!

  • I'm only 6w6d and I've been having lower back pain for almost 3 weeks now. I'm attributing it to the way I sit at work and the baby. I also had it with my first, even though I don't remember it happening this early. Oh well, just another difference in pregnancies I guess!

Don't worry. When I miscarried I bleed for days before the back pain started.

A few weeks before I got pregnant I had a pinched nerve in my lower back. I had spasms and pain that radiated into my hip and thigh. It was the worst pain I've ever experienced, although I'm sure labor will top it. It finally improved with muscle relaxers and pain killers for a few days. I was fine for two months after, but now I can feel it starting again. I'm 7 &2 today, and am so worried it's going to be like it was before and this time I won't be able to take the meds. Gah! What is everyone doing to make it feel better? I've got an icepack on it now.
  • My back pain started at 7w, now 8w tomorrow and still going strong. I use a heating pad (on the lowest setting) to help. All kinds of tendons and bones are shifting around making room for your growing baby. I also have a lot of foot tendon pain, since 5w.
