Middle name for Margaret/ Maggie?

Margaret is my grandma's name and we want to use it if we have a girl - we would call her Maggie.  I was thinking Carolyn as a middle name (my mom is Carol and MIL is Ann - thought it was kind of a mix of both).  DH said his mom's name is not Lyn, it's Ann.  He's not being an ass about it, that was just his initial reaction.  The other choice was Kate (my great grandma is Katherine).  Any thoughts?  And if Maggie is not your style, you don't have to tell me, we already chose that one.

    You could always do Carolann.... But I think that was the little girl's name in poltergiest.

    He suggested that as well, and I thought of the same thing.  I think he thinks I am trying to bump his mom, b/c I am so much closer to my own mom.  I really was trying to think of a compromise, though.

    I prefer Margaret Ann, then you can use your mom's name perhaps for your next child (or something from the male side of your family if it is a boy).?

    Why not Carolanne?  (That kinda looks a little strange spelled out)

    Not to side with your husband, but when I see Carolyn, I wouldn't associate Ann with that either.  Maybe he thought that his mom's name had no part in Carolyn.  Idk, just my thoughts.

    But, I LOVE Kate!  DH and I have talked about that for a name/middle name if we have a girl.  And Maggie Kate just flows so well.

    I do see his side.  If we have a boy though, there is no question we are naming him after my FIL who died tragically 15 years ago - Peter.  This is very important for my DH so I am not even trying to sway him.  I think I am trying to claim the girl's name for my side since I have no control over the boy's name.

    You could always use a classic middle name like Elizabeth.  It might be a good idea to try to steer away from a family name since it seems that it could potentially wind up being a stressor.

    I am a fan of Carolyn (and of Margaret as well).  It's a great combination of the two names.  I have thought of how I would combine my mom's name with my MIL's name.  My MIL passed away before I met my DH so I want to remember her in some way but I don't want to leave my mom out since we are both close with her.
