Hi everyone! Even though I've been on TB for a few weeks now and shared in on discussions, this is my first new post so let me introduce myself.... I'm a FTM, 17 weeks and just found out we're having a little girl!
After our LO is born, I get 8 weeks maternity leave but will be going back to work so we will need child care. My DH and I have several tours and interviews set up at places we are interested in next week and I'm starting to put together any questions, concerns, etc. so they can be discussed during those meetings. I have some obvious ones but wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything I haven't thought of, since I've never had a child in day care before.
For any STMs (or FTMs who have already done this), what were some important questions you asked or concerns you voiced while looking at child care? Was there anything you wish you would've asked or thought of? Any issues you had that I should be aware of and can look for? We are looking at actual centers right now, as opposed to private in-home care, but the questions can still apply for both.
Thanks in advance! Sorry for the long post, I tried looking back through the threads and didn't see any posts about this but I apologize if this seems like a re-post. Thank you!!
Re: Everything I need to know about day care!
I would also do a drop in on a day that's not scheduled. Go check it out when they don't know you're coming.
And ask to talk to some current parents.
I like the idea of stopping in on a random day unexpected to check things out, so I definitely think I'll be doing that. The places we're looking at have menus posted online but I'm assuming it's for older children since it's all solids. I will definitely be asking about providing my own because I plan to breastfeed and pump even after the LO goes to daycare.
@dsty1213 Tortilla chips!? ugh. Thankfully the woman was CPR certified. I will definitely be checking to make sure they are certified. Thanks!
Something I didn't ask but should have, do they have epipens available?
