Belly button still an outtie at 9 weeks

hi all , my DD has had an outtie belly button since her umbilical stump fell off at 5 weeks. At her checkup pediatrician said she has a hernia but a lot of newborns do and that it goes away on its own and outties become innies on their own. I don't really have a problem with my my daughter having an outtie belly button . When we visited our families everyone was obsessed with making her belly button into an innie telling me to put a bandage on her belly button or a flat rock and a bandaid even a marble to force it in :( . Is it really that bad that my daughters belly button hasn't gone in by itself??? Anyone else have their babies belly button still not an innie ?

  • My son's belly button is a little outie & no one has ever said anything about it other than 'oh, look, an outie'.  His doctor hasn't been phased by it either - he's now two.  My daughter (almost 3 months) has an innie.  I think it just depends on how they heal & how they were clamped? I don't know.  I figure if it doesn't bother them & the doctors aren't concerned I won't get worked up about it.

People get obsessed over strange things. I've never really thought about innie vs. outtie! That's funny.
  • My daughter has an outie right now. Her doctor says it may be an umbilical hernia or a true outie. We will find out with time. As long as it doesn't hurt or cause issues, I'm fine with it.

  • My 1st daughter had an outie that went in, and my 4th daughter that is 2 1/2 months has the same. It looks smaller already, fully expecting it to do the same thing. Hers feels spongy when you push it in and even makes a fizzing sound. Dr. Said it's completely normal.
