Pelvic Floor Muscles

How long until they regain some strength? I feel so weak! I have been trying to do kegals daily but feel like I can hardly hold it at all. I am a FTM and am 4 weeks post partum. Would love any recommendations for other exercises also!

Re: Pelvic Floor Muscles

  • I just found out you can buy weighted balls to help with kegels. I am going to look into that!m

I ended up buying this after the birth of DD1 and it helped a lot!  Was even better than the physical therapy I had to do (yes PT for pelvic floor.....that is how bad the birth was!):

  • I felt back to normal at 2-3 weeks. I didn't have any issues and a very quick birth. I also started doing kegals ASAP and (TMI?) when I would pee I would make sure to stop and start the stream multiple times to really focus on those muscles. I would ask your provider at your PP check up if things aren't back to normal.
  • At three weeks I felt a difference still. I started doing kegals every day and bought the weighted balls finally. I started using them at four weeks and my husband and I had sex for the first time today at almost six weeks and it felt back to normal and incredible. This was a quick birth with no tearing. With my first (8lb baby) it took closer to 8 weeks.
  • The first week pp I (almost) peed myself regularly. I thought my pelvic floor was toast. Now two weeks pp, I feel almost back to normal! Kegels and taking it easy have worked so far
  • How are you ladies doing kegals (like how long to hold, how many repititions and how long to rest in between)? How many times a day?
