3rd Trimester

Feeling like that wasn't great news...

I'm 40 weeks and 1 day and I went to my doctor check up today. She is scheduling me for an induction next week. But wants me to schedule an ultrasound and a nonstress test before that day. She said I'm measuring at 37 and is nervous that I could be low on fluid. Even though a week and half ago when I went to the emergency room they told me there was plenty of fluid and she was measuring at 6lbs 8 oz. I just feel like between my doctor and the hospital there is no communication or something. Now I'm just wondering if my due date is wrong and that possibly why I haven't had any symptoms of labor. Okay I'm done ranting. Just frustrated.

  • Measurements can be very inaccurate at this point so try to take them with a grain of salt. Maybe the due date is wrong, maybe not. Even if it's right, babies often set their own schedules ;-) I really hope everything works out well for you, it sounds like they are being diligent about keeping an eye on things, so that's good :-)

You are very right. I guess I'm just letting all these hormones get to me. I'm just so ready for my princess to get here. I should be thankful for a doctor that is keeping tabs on just about everything with her. I go in on Monday for her scan and hopefully all good news.
  • Your fluids can range so much in a day. With my son, I went in for my 34 week sonogram and had my fluids at a 12 and a week later, they were at a 5. So, I was put in the hospital for the weekend following with news that I might have to deliver. Of course when they checked the fluids two days later it was at 10. It wasn't because I was leaking at all because I wasn't, just some reason I was low on fluid. It's always best to get it checked out.
Mom of 3 (Ginny 4 yrs old), (Miles 2 yrs old), and (Mason due June 15th)
  • Also keep in mind that ERs are not as well-trained in obstetrics. They get the basics to deal with crises, but they likely won't have as accurate of information as your OB. It's one of the reasons it is frequently discouraged in first tri (I know you're in 3rd, just referencing an example) to go to the ER with issues, because you will almost always be diagnosed with the same thing. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the input! I go in for the final ultrasound and an NST. My induction is set for Friday June 5th. I couldn't be anymore excited!
