What do Braxton hicks feel like?

Hey everyone. I'm curious to hear you all describe your Braxton hicks contractions. What does it feel like for you? I always assumed it would be painful, even if it wasn't severe pain. Recently, I've had a couple times where my stomach feels strange, but I'm not sure if it's Braxton hicks or if baby girl is just moving in a new/weird way. I've also had a couple other times where my stomach is noticeably tighter but not in a sudden seizing kind of way. What do your Braxton hicks feel like? Is it one of those "when you have one you'll know it" kind of things?

You can find a lot of insight and personal experiences by searching the board for Braxton hicks, but in my experience it's a tightening that almost takes my breath away. Some bhs are more bothersome than others. You'll know you have it when you feel how hard your belly gets and see the physical appearance change in the mirror. They last 30 seconds to a minute most of the time. It's not a sudden tightening either it takes like 6 seconds to fully tighten for me

Mine never hurt or really take my breath away... But my entire abdomen gets really tight for 30 seconds or so... And then it goes away. I agree with the gradual tightening too... Which is what contractions do too...

Mine stay tight and hard for half a day almost. It can get very uncomfortable.

My tummy gets really tight and it might last more than a minute but it is painless. I always just think oops baby is mad now hehe
