New girl in school

Hi all, I have been lurking for a while, read a number of old threads as well as "if you could tell a newbie anything, and thought I would come out of the shadows and introduce myself.  I am 25, DH is 31, and we are preparing to start TTC in August after I have some more clarity on promotion prospects at work and a health issue.  I have read "What to Expect Before You're Expecting", started temping last month, and just started taking prenatals.  My DH has read 3 daddy books already since he wants to be a SAHD and it is his way of proving he will be ready, which is a little silly since he is excellent with kids and babies.

I came off BCPs in January, after 11 years on them, because my doctor was worried about increased stroke risk since I get migraines with aura and intermittent numbness in my left hand and arm. We also wanted to see if BCPs were having any impact on the fact that my last 3 paps have been abnormal while things look completely healthy on a colposcopy and biopsies (so fun!).  Being off BCPs and moving into our first house (complete with empty bedroom for future nursery) has certainly ramped up the baby craziness, but I want to get a clear pap before we start actively TTC.  We have a preconception consultation scheduled next month, since the current OB we have been working with doesn't do deliveries, so are hoping that goes well!

In non-TTC news, we have a two and a half year old lab-pit mix which is the cuddliest dog you have ever met, we love hiking/geocaching, cooking, reading, and while I hate to admit it, we watch way too much bad TV.  I have my first garden since I was in high school at the new house which is incredibly going well so far!  Any who, look forward to getting to know you ladies, though I hope your tenure here is short

    Hi! Your last paragraph could've been written by me! I also have my first garden, in our new house, which has a (sort of) empty bedroom waiting to be a nursery, as well as 2 pit mixes at home! My adult is snuggly, my pup will be when he learns how to be in one place for more than 10 seconds. Welcome! I hope you have a short stay here as well!

    PibbleMom, are those your pups in your picture?  So cute! We are talking about getting a second puppy in July - our dog just loves having a friend to play with!  What is your favorite thing you are growing in your garden?  I am having a lot of fun with broccoli!
