Would like info for Frozen DE from egg bank stats please...would love to hear you brag!! :)

**loss mentioned**
Hi all....I'm new to this board and getting ready to do IVF w/ DE from an egg bank using husband's sperm via ICSI. We m/c naturally last Oct, we went through IVF w/PGS in Dec and all 7 embies were abnormal.  This is our only option at this point and we are out of $ :(.  I am 43, husband is 40.  No male factor issues.  We have used up our limited ins benefits and flex spending.

I wanted to see if you wonderful ladies would mind sharing some info?

1. How many oocytes did you receive?  I am getting 7
2. How many made it through the thaw?  I have heard 50-70% -- sure hoping for the higher #
3. How many fertilized?
4. How many made it to day 5 -- we are growing to day 5 and will do assisted hatching
5. Did you do PGS testing? Why or why not.  My RE says no need but of course I am super nervous and don't want to go through another m/c.
6. How many did you put in?  I'm 43 but do not want multiples, so I am thinking 1 at a time......only takes 1..right?
7. Did you do other things (vitamins, acupuncture, etc) that you think may have contributed to your success?

I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm firing questions...my mind is rolling 100 MPH and I am a data driven person :).  I SOOOO what to hear your stories!!!

Oddly I'm excited for AF (after dreading it for so many months lol) and ready to get this next chapter in my life started....I'm feeling positive!!

  • 1.  I received 7.
    2.  All 7 made the thaw
    3.  5 fertilized
    4.  2 made it to Day 5, but they let one grow a little longer and froze on Day 6. (2 is average for most 5-7 egg lots)
    5.  Didn't do testing--too expensive and really didn't think it was necessary.
    6.  My Dr. would only put in 1.
    7.  Didn't do a thing.

9 1/2 weeks pregnant at 44.  My RE has a 77% success rate.  Hope that helps and good luck!  :)

  • belgirl,

CONGRATS to you!!!! So happy for your great pregnancy news!!!!  Sure gives me hope :)!

Thank you SOOOOO much for your info!!!  That is great feedback. I am pretty sure my  Dr. suggests only putting one in as well w/donor eggs as they have a higher success rate than using our own eggs (odd but true statistically).  He will put 2 if I am ok w/twins.

My RE's stats are roughly same as yours, 78% success rate!  My donor's stats are pretty good too.  3 positives and 3 heartbeats from her 4 cycles -- I know that 2 of those were from 1 single 5 day blast xfers ...not sure about the other one.  The non-successes were due to male factor.

AF due this week and I'm ready to get this party started!  Its about to get REAL!

Happy Baby thoughts to you!!!  Have a great rest of the week!

  • Sounds like you have alot going for you--I would have loved to have twins--if I was younger.  But at 44, this singleton is kicking my butt as it is.

Mine was a proven donor as well--one child of her own and 3 children from one fresh and two frozen.  Figured if I couldn't get pregnant with her eggs, then I wasn't meant to have children!

Let us know how it goes!
  • Belgirl....thank you for your post and info!

Oh..I don't think I could handle twins...I am totally going w/one at a time....just hopeful that I get as many blasts as possible so I have as many trys as it may take.  I just turned 43 and have 2 teen agers and a super demanding job (and I am the steady bread winner - my husband is self-employed so its feast or famine and no insurance for him) so I'm gonna go ahead and say that I'm betting on kryptonite to get me through....Oh and....I must say...my husband is amazing.....I tested him out on a 4 week old puppy.......he got up every bit as much or more than me....LOL. I told him I want him to have the FULL experience so he can take the night feedings......LMAO!!!!   All kidding aside...we will make it work...but I only want one....one time.... :).
  • We started with 5 donor eggs, 4 survived the thaw, 3 fertilized, 2 made it to day 5, we transferred both and now I am 8 weeks pregnant with a singleton! I did not do any additional testing. I heard acupuncture is good after a transfer but I couldn't get in to my acupuncturist at the time of transfer. Good luck!!!
