My girl is petite and short torso-ed but isn't a tiny baby so she sits really well bc of her center of gravity. My best friend who's baby is a week older is long and tall and has a harder time balancing her torso over her hips. It's definitely a mixture of factors that all have to line up at the right time and every baby's formula is different! You're good!
Every baby hits milestones differently. Heck some walk before they crawl even. I wouldn't worry so much. But I would continue helping LO sit up as much as possible and maybe create a pillow barrier for LO so you can be free for a bit. The pillows will help if LO falls and can give you a break. Also maybe try putting LO in a high chair or some sort of baby chair to get used to sitting alone
You should definitely not be concerned at this point. And, per the usual phrase, if you are concerned talk to your pedi! Babes this age are just learning to sit and could take a little while to master the skill.
Another idea...whenever I want to know the timeframe of a milestone I just ask Google. With this particular one Dr. Google says anywhere from 4-7 months.
Edited because I hate punctuation. I always put the commas in the wrong spot [-(
My LO prefers to stand over sitting and her standing balance is crazy; I usually just have to keep her from tipping over than supporting her. She does well sitting in her bumbo, high chair and the chairs at daycare. If she's got a steadying hand she can sit well on laps too but isn't ready for solo tries just yet. She always tips to a side lol She can roll but prefers to use her feet to scoot on her back and rotate that way also. I'm not rushing her; she's only coming up on 5 1/2 months and will probably hit some milestones soon enough.
