Unable to drink liquids

Hey ladies need some advice! Pretty nervous because I'm not able to drink water or other liquids without puking. I'm able to eat a little but all I can eat is grapes and watermelon. I've tried hot teas but I just throw them up, fizzy things don't stay down, and Gatorade and fruit juices don't either. I can do some pop cycles, but I'm also worried about sugar intake. But can't seem to get the liquids in! Any suggestions??????

  • Oh and I'm 13 weeks pregnant

  • I can't drink a lot before eating or it makes me sick. If I drink afterwards I have a better chance.

I would try pedialyte Popsicles. They are for hydration when kids are sick and might help.
Fruit with lots of juice is good too. I wouldn't be too worried about regular Popsicles either. You can buy the natural fruit ones with less or no sugar.

Otherwise just small sips of water through out the day. Try not to drink a lot in one sitting.
  • PP has some great ideas.  Popsicles and ice work well albeit slowly to keep you hydrated.  Smoothies would work too.  Freeze some fruit (strawberries are cheap right now) and send it through a blender with a banana and a little apple juice.  You could try drinking milk, coconut milk or coconut water as well.  If hot teas aren't sitting well perhaps try them iced or room temperature, especially teas that have ginger in them to help ease the nausea.

Grapes and watermelon especially will give you some fluids. Try cucumber too. And as a PP said, try taking sips as you're eating or after a meal? If there's more in you tummy, the liquid may settle better.

If you're worried you're becoming dehydrated then it's best to call your doctor to see how they can help!
