Diclegis

Has anyone had this prescribed for morning sickness?

Re: Diclegis

  • Yes. I started with Zofran 8mg ODT and it wasn't controlling the N/V at all. My OB added Diclegis too: 2 tabs at night and one in the morning. It didn't help my symptoms at all but this was before they diagnosed me with HG so my symptoms are severe to begin with.
It's a pretty benign med; it contains vitamin B6 and a compound that has a chemical structure very close to the active ingredient in Unisom. It honestly only made me tired and didn't work to great but if you have milder N/V it might be helpful. If you're suffering its definitely worth a try!

  • Diclegis is my saving grace! It does make me tired, but it makes me able to function and work during the day! Didn't work for some of my friends. You should be able to get a sample from your doctor, keep the coupon on the package because it's crazy expensive without it.
  • Diclegis is a miracle worker for me!! My doctor gave me samples at my previous appointment and it worked wonders! Definitely keep the coupon!! I didn't want to take any medicine but this is the only Category A (safest and no negative effects on baby) nausea medicine available and half of it is Vitamin B6 - so I felt way more comfortable taking it once I found that out! :)
  • Diclegis made me super tired. So....I went and got 100mg B6 and I take only half a unisom (25mg in half so 12.5mg) once in the AM and I'm pretty much symptom free. It's controlling my ms and the gallbladder nausea. Basically I just have the pain but no nausea.

  • I taking it as well and it's working OK. I s throw up about once a day but that's better than 8-15 times! I'm also still nauseas and am calling doc to up my dose to three a day. I'm not worried about being tired because anything is better than nausea!

I just want to say that I feel for you. I don't have HG but I have dealt with pretty severe morning sickness. It is so so awful and I pray every day that I will turn the corner soon. You will be in my prayers.

  • Only thing that's worked for me....tried zofran, reglan, unisom.....and finally relief with Diclegis at night (2) and sometimes again (1) in the afternoon. Use Reglan occasionally too....if I'm feeling super drowsy the next day, I've also tried just one Diclegis at night instead of the two dosage usually prescribed....
  • Didn't work for me at all and kept me up half the night. I took it for 4 days and had to stop because I couldn't sleep for about 4-6 hours after I took it at night. It really didn't help during the day anyway.

Yes! It's been a lifesaver for me!

  • My doctor gave me a sample of this, and it stopped my nausea completely... but I still vomit unless I also take Zofran. At first my insurance refused to cover it (pharmacy said almost $600 for 30 day supply.) My doctor had to contact my insurance company and let them know that I tried the unisom/B6 combo, and it didn't work very well for me. It only worked for a couple of hours, Diclegis is time-released so it works better for me. Now my insurance has agreed to cover it, but the pharmacy doesn't have it in stock. They said they ordered it and should have it tomorrow. I've been trying to get this prescription for almost 2 weeks now!
  • Yes! Knocked me out. But then DH saw that it's not recommended for nursing moms so I stopped since I'm still nursing my 13 month old. But I did like it the few times I took it!
  • Thank you for all your responses! I always read post about morning sickness but never heard this as an option. I took it last night and it's amazing. I was able to eat a full dinner and I felt good. I am a little drowsy this morning but I feel great. It is a lifesaver!
  • Life saver. I was on 4 a day and could go up to 6 if needed. Made me be able to function

I've been to the ER twice for dehydration from HG so my dr prescribed me zofran disintegrating tablets and Diclegis. It has been a life saver!! I take the 2 at night, 1 in am and 1 afternoon and have completely turned around. I went from throwing up 4+ a day to not at all. I still feel nauseas sometimes but if it's too severe I pop a zofran!

I am taking diclegis and it has helped significantly. If I skip a dose, I can definitely tell! I don't feel any more or less tired than before I started taking it. I'm just always tired anyway lol.
  • Wanted to update my diclegis experience: I find that two a night does not do the trick for the flowing day. Sleeping comfortably hasn't been much of an issue for me so I'm going down to one per night and one in the morning. I can't even begin to tell you how adding one in the morning helps me sooooo much! I don't feel too tired either
