Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

I miss intimacy...

I am new here. Hi. I began my miscarriage on May 15th at a little over five weeks. Had an ultrasound that day and was basically told to prepare for the worst because I was bleeding pretty heavily. Fast forward two hours. Yes, two hours, I was on the road to my destination wedding. I was married to my amazing DH four days later, and when we returned home, I thought the worst was over. Well, ultrasound yesterday found that the sac is still in my uterus and I hadn't passed everything. So, now I'm being told that if my hcg levels dont drop quickly, D&C it is.

My DH and I haven't had sex since we have gotten married. We kiss and touch, but I have to fake being turned on. Not because he would be upset if I didn't do anything, but because I feel like I WANT to be able to still kiss and touch my husband. I can't wait until this is over and I can feel that intimacy again. I miss it. It's only been about two weeks, but it feels like forever.

I am so sorry. Loss of intimacy is such a kick in the gut when you are already going through such a shitty experience. Please be sure to talk to your husband and express your frustrations. Men almost always pick up on our conflicted feelings and most of the time they end up thinking that we've changed or that we aren't interested anymore, and they just internalize it and everything snowballs. Communication is key to getting through the rough road ahead. FX for a complication-free procedure and a return to healthy intimacy when you are healed.

Remember, nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks after a D&C (and many docs include external stim as part of the deal), to prevent infection!

All advice given based on lengthy personal experience.

I am not a doctor, I just have a working medical vocabulary.

Always available to answer questions about loss, infertility, and TRP.
