3D/4D ultrasounds, safe?

So I've read and heard some opposing theories on the excessive use of ultrasounds for pleasure. I have only had one 4D ultrasound done for fun and then the the was done at my doctors office.
I've been invited to a Samsung convention as a scanning model for their new 5D ultrasound scanning technology but am hesitant to attend because I don't want to push it and cause damage to the baby.
Any advice on the subject?

Re: 3D/4D ultrasounds, safe?

  • I personally would pass on that.
The technology is so new that I wouldn't trust that enough studies have been done on the effects to unborn babies. It also sounds like they would be using it on you for a large part of the day which is advised against with any ultrasounds.

You could talk to your doctor about this as well, they would know best.

  • I don't trust anything that's new, we are the long-term studies essentially!  Now of course if there was some medical benefit it may make sense, but just for fun...no thanks!
  • I'll be honest, I had to google what 5D ultrasound was. I'd definitely pass on being a scanning model as it looks like the focus is on studies of baby's heart, brain and reproductive organs.
  • It kind of sounds like you would be a guinea pig...I would definitely pass!
  • I definitely agree with everyone's comments. I did call my OB to double check with him and he said to go for it, but of course I still have my doubts.
...still up in the air if I go or not, so confused. :-??
