Is infant CPR class worth it to take? Any experiences from other mamas out there? We signed up to take it then decided not to but may sign up again! I'm a teacher and have taken multiple cpr classes in the past.. It seems like they keep changing things every few years so I'm not sure if the class would be worth our time or money. Thanks!
Re: Infant CPR
I see infant CPR like that but soooo much more important!
I couldn't not do it. If something did happen I just.. Yeah I can't even imagine. Even knowing adult and general infant first aid, it's not the same.. Especially when it's your baby. You'll lose your mind no matter how cool calm and collected you try to be. The moments before the paramedics get to you are crucial so any training you can fall back on will help you go into autopilot in an emergency.
Sorry.. I'm in Australia so I'm no help. There's one here that's independently run by a specialist company called Tiny Hearts First Aid, also our 'St Johns First Aid' (like Red Cross) who run Adult First Aid across the country also run a Infant/Child specific course for parents.
Hopefully you find a company who is certified to run the infant specific course for you where you live.. Other posters might have to help out with more information though..
The only person I'm not requesting take the course is my step dad who's a police officer and who was recertified in 2015. And has been for more than 20 years. Anyone else wanting to watch my child, including my siblings will be requested to take it. Even if say we're at a peak or birthday party and someone else's child needs first aid or CPR, I want to be ready, calm, and to give all the help I can. I'd say, yes, of all the classes to take, that one is incredibly important, relevant, and worth every minute and dime.
That is very strange....
That is so bizarre to me. I would call and ask why. At the end of the day, knowing the skill is the most important part, but when I teach the class I always certify everyone.
The only thing I can think of is maybe they are being cheap and don't want to provide everyone with their own books and such to take home? I know for me, I legally have to provide each participate with their own packet that includes a book, first aid guide, and a DVD with all of the content we cover, and I am not allowed to make photo copies to pass out to save $$. Of course, that may just be the legal requirements of the group I am certified through, but I had to sign off on it.
