Breast feeding/milk supply

is there anything I can do currently at 36W to increase the supply when it comes in? I tried BF with my first but she could never latch and we never got a pump but this time I'm on top of things and have a pump and everything ready just in case! Any advice helps

Re: Breast feeding/milk supply

  • I would suggest working with a LC while in the hospital. I had them one in during multiple feelings because I had difficulty establishing a latch. Also take advantage of any support groups for BFing. I have found them to be helpful. It doesn't necessarily increase supply, but it does help increase success with BFing. Good luck!

  • From Naturally Healthy Babies and Children by Dr. Aviva Jill Romm. Highly recommend this as a handbook for herbal and home remedies to common minor issues.
  • Just keep breastfeeding. If the baby doesn't have tongue tie or other issue than establishing a latch should be able to happen and a LC or experienced mid wife could help you there. Try pumping in the early days as well, some women's BM takes longer to come in. Also, you could try using a BF pillow I highly recommend MyBRESTFRIEND it really helped me keep baby at the right level and helped me stay relaxed. Not cheap at about $80 but worth it especially if you have a c section.
