Game of Thrones discussion - TV SHOW SPOILERS

First, please warn readers if you're going to post book spoilers. Anything which has already aired on HBO (and not some pirated website) is fair game.

What has everyone thought about this season thus far?

If you're read the books, what do you think of some of the changes between the show and the books? I've reached the point where I say "I don't know if they changed that character's story, or if they just cut out a bunch and got ahead of the books." ****Sansa Spoiler**** ---------------------> I get it. Right now she is Jeyne Poole. But is her book character eventually going to leave the Vale and end up in Winterfell? And the tv show is just a shortcut? Or is this a complete change in her storyline? No idea.

Also, as far as tv show vs books, what happened to:
- all the Greyjoy drama
- All the Young Griff stuff
- All the extra characters in Dorne who were cut out (Quentin, Arianna, etc)
- The party traveling to the Citadel through Braavos

I haven't read the books so I didn't read your spoiler. My h is currently reading the books and he's made several comments about things they've changed. I think it's been a great season. I absolutely loved the end of last night's episode. Can't wait to see what happens. :)

  • @Guennie - a theme through all 4 previous seasons is that they cut out stuff in the books just to move the story along. Who can blame them? Now the show is almost caught up to the books. So if a character's story strays from the books, are they really changing the story? Or are they just skipping ahead to something which hasn't been published yet? I don't know. That's what is driving me crazy (and I went into detail about with my spoiler post).

As for how the most recent episode ended, it looks like they're sticking pretty close to the story in King's Landing. The exact way it all unfolded was a little different than the books, but didn't stray significantly enought to impact thr story. I can say the same for what is happening in Braavos, Mereen, and at the Wall. Minor deviations from the book, nothing cataclysmic. There are some really interesting side stories being cut out. If they aren't part of the final big picture, I'm gonna be pissed that i read those hundreds of pages for nothing!
