How to tell the babies sex?

I know this might be way to eager of me to ask but I don't have an a appointment for 4 more days which will be when I find out the sex and I was looking at one of my ultrasound photos from 14 weeks and I'm thinking it might be a girl and wanted to know what you think:-)? Also I know it looks like a profile picture but I assure you it's not the two lighter spots on the left are the bottoms of its feet and it's legs are widely spread open, but regardless it's probably too early to tell.

Edit your title and post to say "sex" not gender. Just trust me. There are ladies on here who will go far out of their way (sometimes fairly rudely) to tell you that you can't know until the child is older if it will identify with masculine/feminine (gender) and that a penis or vagina identifies the sex. Again, edit while there is still time!

Second, we really can't tell from profile shots and 14 weeks is too early based on even genital shots. Based on the "skull theory" (which I am not seasoned at) I would guess boy just for fun :)

  • Typically you can find out the sex of the baby at 18+ weeks ... If baby cooperates. A 14 week ultrasound pic will not show the sex of the baby. Especially one that is a profile shot of the baby. Note: in order to determine the sex of the baby you must look IN that area that directly shows the penis or vagina.
  • It's not a profile shot, it's legs were spread wide open, I know this because it was a screen shot of a video I took during the ultrasound. But your probably right, it's just too soon.

14 weeks is to early to determine the sex of a baby, the genitals are not fully developed yet. 16-18 weeks would be the earliest if baby cooperates.

And you're posting a picture of your child's genitals on a public Internet board? Awesome.

The only way to know at 14 weeks is genetic testing, which is often not covered by insurance unless you are high risk. It's really not important and you'll find out at the anatomy scan in about 2 months anyway...be patient.
  • Definitely not the correct angle to even try to GUESS. Wait until you have your AS..... Get a good potty shot, have your tech confirm it a couple times.. Then youre on the right path.

The whole "gender" and "sex" thing seems a bit overkill to me. Im fully aware that trans people exist commonly, but traditionally most of us are just used to referring to girl and boy parts as "gender". Itd be nice to have some slack cut for those who are not so personally involved in that thought process. :) Not a complaint by any means, just food for thought. It is not done/said by unfamiliar folks with intent to be insulting.. Just happens to be what they have grown to know. :)

Anyways.. Have fun guessing what you are having! Cheers
