my baby is 4 months old now and he always rolls on to his tummy to sleep. I will roll him to his back and he rolls back to his tummy. It scares me. Does anyone else's baby sleep on Their tummy? And do you feel that it's safe?
I read that you should still place him on his back to sleep but if he rolls to his belly you do not need to roll him back. I'd ask your pedi to be sure though.
There's a rolling post from a week or so ago, you're not alone Our Ped said put him down on his back but if he continues to sleep on his tummy you do not have to flip him back all night.
This is our second, we have put both of them on their tummy to sleep and haven't had any issues. Then again, we kept both of them sleeping in their rocker until around 2 to 3 months.
My 4 month old would only sleep on his tummy from day 1...hated being on his back or swaddled. Just make sure baby has enough neck strength to move their head.
Same here! My baby starts off on her back in her crib but always ends up on her tummy. She usually prefers to sleep like that and her muscles are strong enough to turn her head so I'm not TOO nervous. Having the monitor in her crib that monitors her movement and breathing helps put me at ease too
My girl prefers to sleep on her tummy- like missj2008 said, once they can lift/move their heads while on tummy they should be fine a resident doc told me "oh NEVER EVER put them on their tummies to sleep!" But by that time she was already sleepin through the night, on her tummy (of course, she moves and flips around all over her crib at night so I'm positive it's ok at this point haha) also she is 16 weeks (will be 4 months in 4 days!)
Lo prefers to sleep on her tummy. No matter how many times I roll her to her back she always rolls on to her tummy to sleep. Tummy sleeping can be dangerous for small babies. I put her in a wearable baby deedee sleep sack and she is doing fine. currently we are using a lighter model works for spring and summer.
DS hasn't quite figured out how to get onto his tummy yet. He LOVES rolling from side to side, but he hasn't been able to make it over his one arm yet. He's getting closer and I'm anticipating walking into his room one morning and finding him on his tummy.
My baby started doing this at 3 months. If she did it during the day while I was awake and next to her, I just let her be. But I night, I use to try to coax her either to her back or her side. At ther 4mo check up, our pediatrician told us that so long as she had the ability to roll and hold her head up, we didn't have to worry about rolling her back onto her back.
My little guy is now sleeping on tummy too - but face flat in the crib mattress! I just got him a firmer mattress hoping it would stop him but it hasn't. If I roll him to back or side it just wakes him off, ticks him off and he only settles if he's in that position. Here's a pic . Scary?!
Is it just me or are those baby monitors a little freaky anyway? Last night my little one was craning his neck to look right at the camera! I'm sure he was looking at the light but it was a little unsettling. Ha ha.
Lo always would wake up several times throughout the night while sleeping on his back. He has been sleeping on his tummy since 1 month. Not to mention all night !
As long as the bed is firm enough that their face doesn't sink in its fine and by now they should be able to turn and hold their own head up. My LO has been sleeping on her tummy from 2 months.
Yeah he's more sleeping on his hands than a direct face plant now. The new mattress didn't really stop him though! Freaks me out but trying to back off cause regardless of what I do he ends up back in same position!
Yah I just watch him but he will only sleep on his tummy but he turns his head to the side. He is so good at rolling and moving I know he will be ok but I hated it at first. I have a hard time due to a friend that just lost a two month in his sleep I panick
