Motherhood Maternity...?

I'm looking for a maxi dress to wear for 2 showers, a wedding and maternity photos during the worst heat of summer. I'm also needing the dress to be plus size as I normally wear an XL. Does anyone have any suggestions and does anyone know if the motherhood maternity clothing runs small or true to size? I prefer no stripes as they normally don't do me any justice. Thanks in advance, and please be nice with all comments!

Re: Motherhood Maternity...?

  • I bought all my maxi dresses at Old Navy. As far as I know Motherhood Maternity runs true to size.

Try Macy's! They have a good selection of maternity wear.
  • Pinkblush.com has a lot of cute dresses. I also found some cute ones at burlington coat factory.

Motherhood is fairly true to size. Not sure where you are located, but if you have a Belk near you (in the South), I love their maxi dresses.

MM is, in my experience, true to size. I wear XL and can wear their XL.

  • I tried to look the pinkblush.com up and it was like a sex line website...

Motherhood runs true to size... My only issue with their maxi dresses is that I'm 5'2" and they run way too long for me!

Yeah that's another factor to consider on any maxi dress, no matter the brand/store. I'm 5'3" and there's a good half a foot dragging on the ground.

If you're short try maxi or midi skirts with tops instead.

  • You'd have better luck with target or zuilly.com. I'm an xl and Motherhood Maternity never fit quite right, but I was able to wear maxi dresses and skirts from target just fine.

  • I'm plus size and I've gotten maxi dresses at old navy. They have a sale going right now. I'm getting ready to order another dress from their website.
  • I'm short too with larger arms. Target doesn't work for me for lots of reasons. Old Navy is a good place to start because it's so affordable and they have larger sizes then try MM. Good luck!

omg.. so sorry. I really though it was just pinkblush.. its actually pinkblushmaternity.com
  • Ross if you have one has a ton of dresses. Im a shortie and not looking forward to dress shopping for my showers. No maxis for me
  • I'd say motherhood runs large. Normally I'm a small top and medium bottom, there I wear an extra small top and small bottoms
  • Go Old Navy. I bought a petite maxi dress pre pregnancy and it works great during pregnancy. Plus you can wear it afterwards, too!

You could also check out Kohl's or Kohls.com ... they have quite a few in the plus size section and I've found with maxi skirts you don't need to buy maternity if you get the ones with the waist band that has some give (I've tried on a few maternity maxi skirts and actually prefer just to buy regular skirts and go up a size since they're more comfortable).
  • I think Motherhood Maternity runs very true to size. Beware of Pinkblushmaternity though, they tend to run small especially in the arms.
  • I've gotten all my maxi dresses at Old Navy, Ross and Forever 21, plus they all sell plus size. I can't think to spend the money at motherhood when you can get great stuff half the price
