how accurate is gender through blood test?

I got a blood test done at 13 weeks and was told I was having a boy. I was wondering if anyone else had got the blood test done and if the gender was correct for them.? I gave 3 girls now so I was really hoping it was really accurate. :)

Re: how accurate is gender through blood test?

  • It's accurate. Congrats on your boy! I think 96% accurate starting at 7 weeks and more accurate as the weeks go on.

If you had genetic testing and results also showed you were having boy then it is pretty safe to start buying blue

  • If it was a genetic test, they are looking at the chromosomes, so it is extremely accurate. Especially if it is a boy, since they would not find a Y chromosome if it is a girl. If you really want to be cautious, you can wait until your anatomy scan, but genetic tests like the panorama are more accurate than an ultrasound since it is based in chromosomal sex rather than a technician's judgement on the way a baby's genitals look.
  • Agree with all...once they can identify baby's DNA then they can identify sex and it's either xx or xy. No interpretation value...it just is or isn't.
  • Thank you'll so much I was just feeling a little unsure but now I feel much better :)
