Eww! So annoying at any time! I always just use something from the store - probably something very similar to PP, except I don't use balm stick, I usually use a gel or something you put right on it. I would think they're probably safe for pregnancy, but I'd ask my nurses hotline to be sure
ETA - good luck! Hope it goes away soon! And, if you do speak with your Dr / nurses about safe products, drop us a line?
It doesn't feel pleasant but when I get them I use a q-tip and Dab some hydrogen peroxide on it a few times a day . Usually that gets rid of it in a couple days but not always . Hope yours goes away quickly !!
Honestly hemorrhoid cream, I know sounds crazy! I've used it for years. Ask your doctor because when I got one early on in pregnancy they prescribed a generic drug of Valtrex and that sucker was gone in about 3 days!
Yes I have valtrex, amazing stuff just unsure if I can use it this late in pregnancy. Waiting to see the dr, just nervous having a coldsore and a newborn that could potentially be infected by it. Thanks for all the remedies, will try them all. Hopefully this sucker won't know what hit it
@mishmardhiono yes Valtrex is safe in late pregnancy! Anyone with a history of genital herpes is on a daily regimen of Valtrex from 36 weeks on for suppression regardless of last outbreak (or at least should be!) so it is definitely safe!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

Sorry I never replied. Continuing on usual dose of valtrex under docs advice, I can't use Zovirax as I find it spreads/multiplies the sores. There is a product that I buy when overseas (I'm in aus so it's not available here) called viru merz, might be available inthe US, I have purchased it in Mexico. It's incredibly cheap and works wonders, normally within 6 hours of applying the sore is contained and pretty much gone. It's a gel that puts a film over the sore so it doesn't weep/get touched by saliva. Worth looking into.
Re: Coldsore remedies
I don't know how safe it is during pregnancy but it's always made mine disappear in a couple of days.
