Yesterday (at 34 +2) I started having early labor (nauseous, flushing, contractions) so I went into L&D. I always stay really well hydrated but they wanted to try an IV to see if that would help the contractions dissipate. By the time I got to our birthing center, my contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes and getting stronger so they checked my cervix and I was dilated to 4 cm. Six days ago I was checked during an NST where I was contracting a lot and I was barely fingertip but they did a fetal fibronectin just to be safe. It came back negative so my OB was really surprised that I was dilating, but the injection of Terbutaline (as AWFUL as the experience was) really broke up my contractions and stalled cervical dilation.
My question is for any BTDT mamas out there have any experiences with Terbutaline. Did it eventually wear off? How long after your Terbutaline dose did your contractions start back up or did you go into labor?
I'm not anxious about labor picking back up or anything. I've been home for about 10 hours now and my contractions are strong, but really inconsistent. Just want to see what other's experiences have been with the stuff.
Re: Terbutaline Experiences?
I'll tell you about my experience, I had the shot at 32(?) or atleast around there weeks and I'm still very pregnant at 37+3. It works for some people where it won't for others, there is no way to know if your body will take it and let it do its job.
