terbutaline shot at 35 weeks

I went in at 35 weeks for contractions that were 1-6 minutes apart and dilated 1-2cm. They gave me fluids which did not help. After that I was given a shot of terbutaline. That did the trick mostly. Now at 35 weeks 2 days I'm back to having regular contractions and am 50% effaced and still 1-2 cm dilated. There is also alot of pressure and sharp pains. I have not dilated anymore since monday. Has anyone else had this shot and if so how long afterwards did you give birth?

  • Not sure what answer you are looking for here, people can be given terb at different points in their pregnancy. That doesn't mean you will deliver early, and if you do there is no way of telling you when. Given you are past 35 weeks they won't continue to try and stop labor, and the symptoms you are having doesn't mean you will deliver early. There are many threads you can search and obtain information that you may be looking for. Search bar and good luck
  • No I have to get more than one every time I've went into labor before they would fully stop my contractions. It's horrible! I've had to get 3 the first three times I went into premature labor and 2 this last time. They give them to me every fifteen minutes until the contractions stop but the most you can get in 24 hours is 3. Or at least that's how my hospital does it.
  • Now I'm on procardia every 6 hours until I deliver due to pre mature labor and high blood pressure. They also have terbutaline in pill form too. I've had complications from the beginning of my pregnancy so I've been in the hospital numerous times.
