November 2015 Moms

First pregnancy, 16 weeks today, not "feeling" pregnant but symptoms still there, normal?

Hello everyone,

Couldn't find a feed like this so created my own.

Just turned 16 weeks today and have been thinking for the last few days, hmm....I really don't feel pregnant.  My Dr. told me this would be normal at the beginning of my pregnancy.  It still freaks me out though!  I'm feeling much better, I have more energy and not so fatigued.  I do still have waves of nausea, CONSTIPATION like crazy!!!, sore boobs, peeing all the time, and nothing really sounds good to eat..just like the last 16 weeks lol.  I think I'm just crazy.....  All of my US have been normal, we did the Down Syndrome test and trisomy tests, all normal, risks very low.  No cramping, no bleeding.  Haven't felt the baby kick, or maybe I have....can't tell with all this gas inside of me LOL!  I read for first time moms, since we're not sure what we're looking for, you usually feel the first kicks between 18-20 weeks. Heart beat has always been perfect.  Just worrying for no reason I guess.  It always makes me feel better writing on here and hearing from you ladies!!

Thanks!!! XXOO

  • I guess because my belly isn't that big yet, I can't feel the baby move yet. And I have no clue what to expect being pregnant. Plus, every pregnancy for everyone is different. I figured this is normal but it scares me something might be wrong even though I have zero indication to prove it.

  • Well, from what it sounds like you're having all the typical symptoms, so I wouldn't worry. Most FTMs don't feel the baby move or show until 18-20 weeks, or even later.

  • That's exactly how I'm feeling. 14 weeks

@FirstTimeMum2015 We have the same due date!  I'm kind of in that boat, too.  The nausea and fatigue aren't constant anymore (they both still come and go), but as PPs have mentioned, it's pretty common to have a lot of the early symptoms fade going into the second trimester.  And for a first pregnancy, it's unlikely you'll feel the baby's movements for another couple of weeks.  As long as you aren't cramping or bleeding, try not to worry so much.  It's not good for Baby. :)
  • Yes! I am feeling the same! My icky first trimester symptoms have fade a lot...yet I still don't have a noticeable bump. I feel pretty much like my usual self just a little chubbier and moodier. Several times a day I totally forget I'm pregnant! It's so strange!
  • I am feeling exactly the same! I am 16w and feel less pregnant than I did a few weeks ago!! It's a strange feeling - you go from feeling pregnant and not looking it - to looking it and not feeling it!! My midwife has said its just your body settling into being pregnant
  • Same here this is my second pregnancy and I have a tiny bump at 16 still not really showing that much. Thought I was supposed to show faster with my second but I guess not and I have felt flutters but no constant kicks or movement and I get paranoid at times but I'm trying to remain positive
  • Same here! I think it's because I haven't felt the baby move yet or since baby was a surprise. I know that there's a human growing in me, but it's just so abstract to me. I've been reassured that it will keep sinking in little by little, week by week, until I go "OH SHIT" when I go into labor.

  • Same here! I think I'll feel more preggers when my belly pops out more and I feel the baby. Definitely have symptoms though!
  • This is like reading exactly my life! I'm 16 weeks too, still get nausea in waves and vomit if I eat the wrong thing or don't eat for too long, sore bigger boobs, I even have a growing belly. But sometimes I just feel like "what if I'm not?! What if there's nothing there??" Even though I've seen him/her twice at an ultrasound kicking around like noones business and the screening all came back more than perfect. I keep thinking of the next scan I will stop thinking like this. I've actually refused to let myself have a Doppler incase I can't find the heartbeat and get wound up and wastes doctors time. I can't wait until I can feel real kicks, not just gassy mistakable flutters Xx
  • Same! But they say that second trimester is the least symptomatic. Most symptoms go away other than a belly gradually growing. Let's not panic:)

Try and relax ladies. You are in your second trimester so as pp said, it's least symptomatic. Also, the chance of MC has decreased drastically. Try and enjoy this time feeling good. Get as much sleep as you can. In a few weeks you will be feeling the baby. In the third trimester your baby will be moving around so much, you won't be able to get comfortable and sleep and you will be wishing you felt the way you are feeling now. Hope you get your reassurance soon.
Wishing you all healthy pregnancies and babies!

    Edited: change to chance

@emmybean123 exactly the same here. Same symptoms and weeks except I got a Doppler and it doesn't work for me haha
  • I call this the annoying zone. Your basically in lala land because symptoms are leaving but belly and kicking aren't quite there yet. So it's frustrating and makes you worry. As long as appointments are going well and no MC symptoms baby is more than likely just fine.

I have same symptoms as you at 18 weeks. Sometimes i "feel" pregnant - usually when I'm alone or lounging- sometimes i don't - when I'm doing important things at work and am back to my non-FTM self. I think feeling like this is normal, i don't worry about it and i hope that you don't have to either! :)
  • Get a fetal Doppler that's my advice for everyone. I am the worlds BIGGEST worrier and without mine I would be in a home by now. Familiarize yourself with it and get to know how to use it and until you feel the baby you will feel so much better. I'll be 22 weeks in a couple of days and I'm just now starting to feel movement. It's a good way to relax yourself until you "feel pregnant" again
  • It's normal. I haven't felt anything (sickness, tiredness, stretching pain, etc) since about week 12. Still not showing a whole lot either. I'm 19 now and I am starting to feel little kicks below my belly button a few times a day. Nothing to worry about. Everyone is different ;)
  • I seriously was this exact same way. For the first ...twelve weeks I kept doubting if I even was... When I so clearly was I just for some reason kept going maybe I'm not.... Then a few weeks ago I got panicking because I didn't feel "kicks" anymore. Everything is fine though. I was overreacting as usual!
