weird pregnancy things

There were things I thought were a myth or thought pregnant women used pregnancy as an excuse for... then I experienced them myself.

For example: I was laying in bed and watching TV with DH. (Cooking shows are bad ideas, fyi) the cook was making something and it required eggs. At that point I HAD to have scrambled eggs... at 10 pm. Good thing it was something moderately healthy but it was a weird occurrence. When I got up to make them DH asked me what I was doing... and his response was "dear god... you are such a pregnant woman."

I want to know what "weird little pregnancy things" happen to you ladies - food related or not. :)

Re: weird pregnancy things

  • I'm not much of a crier normally but everytime I see something sad on FB tears. Hormones suck!

  • Oh my gosh the crying for me has been a big factor.  I am usually not a crier, but there is a Subaru commercial about  little girl growing up that I just cry at every time...with or without sound. AND I had to get rid of my Jetta TDI for a minivan (twins + toddler) and I cried driving off the lot about changes coming and leaving MY car behind...WHAT?!?!?!?!  Outside of the crying thing, weird food things...randomly.  I went to Summer Kitchen ordered food that sounded AWESOME and didn't eat it. Not sure why, but it arrived and my stomach was like...NO!!

I haven't really cried, but last Sunday I went to my niece's track meet. They range from 4-13 and they had to run a mile. Once the smaller ones started running, I teared up because I felt like they were so inspirational, running their little hearts out. I felt rediculous lol.

  • I've been having the wackiest dreams. Like I seriously have no idea where they are coming from! Last night my dream consisted of an alternate dimension and fighting evil gummy bears that came to life. What?!?

Oh gosh, me too. Mine haven't been quite so trippy (I wish!) but are incredibly vivid and feature all sorts of people from my past coming out of the woodwork -- and not even, like, meaningful people. It's a nice change from some of the anxiety dreams I used to have (although I'm sure those will make a fierce comeback as things progress) but sometimes they're so realistic that it's almost exhausting -- I wake up and they're on my mind for quite some time, or I have to work hard to distinguish what's real life!

I read somewhere that the dreams seem more vivid/memorable because pregnant ladies wake up more in the middle of the night (as opposed to staying asleep and forgetting them) but no idea if that's true.

Haha that Subaru commercial gets me too! Have you seen this gum commercial? Sounds dumb but watch it...

  • My dreams have been crazy! A lot of people from my past coming out to "play" if you will because every dream turns out to be some sort of scandal.
  • @august111966 that is exactly my life!!
  • Yea, I'm joining the ranks of criers... I did pole fitness a lot before pregnancy and my instructors invited a bunch of us to go and see them compete.... one of the ladies at the event, who was a mother, was competing as a beginner and did her routine to "Let it Go" from Frozen... I could not help it... just tears... tears forever.
  • My left ankle cracks on a daily basis.. I hiccup way more often now.. My tailbone is killing me.. Those are the top 3 I can think of lol
  • The dreams! Yes yes yes! I've particularly been having a lot of sex dreams. So bizzare!!
  • I wrote my college thesis on food waste and how wrong it is. Now I am pregnant its like I am being haunted by it because I cannot make myself eat some things and had to throw away perfectly good food!!
I now apparently don't like red peppers and love pistachios.... For last 35 years this was always backwards... Also, a borderline vegetarian all my life, I now want a burger a day!
Crying.. Yeah, I tear up at a lot of things..
  • I have been craving apples lately mostly at night but everytime I eat one I get a bellyache Argh talk about giving me mixed messages!!!!

I haven't had the crying with any of my pregnancies, for me that comes after birth for weeks nonstop. The only time I tear up is when I am puking. With being as dehydrated as I am, I am surprised that my body has enough in me to waste perfectly good/needed fluids in the form of tears during my 10-20 minute vomit/dry heaving moments multiple times a day.
I also fart while vomiting, and I once peed myself (last pregnancy) while vomiting. Such fun!
  • This is my favorite thread....hahaha. I haven't been crying much except watching an old episode of How I Met Your Mother- where Marshall finds out his dad died. Couldn't handle it. Can't even handle thinking about it now. My most prominent symptoms = EPIC burping 24/7...which is really embarrassing at work. I'm an attorney, and throughout the day, I have to suppress burps (sometimes successfully). Luckily, most of my co-workers know I'm pregnant, so they aren't too offended :)

I thought I had my hormones under control until yesterday. I had to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy. It wasn't ready yet and would be another 20 minutes. I immediately started crying... I'm sure she thought I was a crazy lady.

Anything emotional on fb makes me cry. Or if I'm craving something and I'm not able to get it relatively soon I cry lol recently little things bother me way too much or make me upset, like I was craving a coffe and gave in, but the guy at Starbucks got my order wrong and I wanted to strangle him haha

  • Lol I've been such a huge crier, too. EVERYTHING makes me emotional! Listening to the radio is like a game of Russian Roulette. Will this next song make me cry? Probably.

  • Add me to the list of crazy dreams and food cravings. Also I never dreamed I would be slowing down so much in first try due to low energy, nausea and hip pain.

This is so me, the crying when I can't get the foods I'm craving. In all honesty, it's my number one reason for tears, and it's driving my husband crazy.
  • I guess it's not thaaat weird, but my partner and I notice every pregnant lady now and are constantly pointing them out. It's really cute when he does it, or when I see him staring at other parents of younger kids.
  • I pee while vomiting. All the time! It's disgusting and my husband thinks it's hilarious

Me too with the peeing while vomiting! Sometimes it's even when I sneeze or cough. So annoying!
  • I pee when I cough. I hate it so much!

Grinding my teeth constantly in my sleep

    My husband thinks so too!

I also cry a lot more. I'm beyond tired. I can never figure out what I want to eat, but when I do, if I don't get it I get crazy. And I'm having horrible headaches!
Some of these are so different from when I had my daughter. It just proves how different every pregnancy is.
